After many years, we decided to switch from BT for a better deal, however I wanted to keep my BT Email account open for many reasons, BT offered me the E Mail service at £5 / month in March of this year, which I reluctantly accepted. Two weeks ago I received a mail from BT stating the charge was increasing to £7.50 a month, with no explanation, my subsequent E Mail to be for an explanation still remains unanswered, so I will be moving. I believe under EU rules, exploitation of a dominant position in a marketplace is illegal?

As said by @JJ Egan you're talking nonsense.

Right ok....with regards to the lovely price rises coming up in September i phoned them.

    Currently on-

Unlimited infinity 1 with weekend calls- £30.99 going up to £32.49

Entertainment plus- £5 but going to £6.50

    kids extra- £5

BT sport- £3.50 but going to £6

So currently £44.49 and going to £50.99 in Sept.

They've now offered for 18 months-

My Infinity 1 and calls package for £23.99 (rrp £52.49)

And my Ent Plus, Kids and Sport are now under the same roof and called max hd?? i think she said and offer of £15 (£21)

So unlimited Infinity 1, weekend calls, Entertainment, Kids and Sport for £38.99 and not subject to the September increases although they'll no doubt get me later! Probably stay but i'm off today and wil phnoe Sky anyway for a laugh!!

ps- no dice with Sky!!....cheapest they could do for a similar package was £45 and even then i'd need to add BT Sport which i would want.....guessing that's another right few quid on top too!!!

Cheapest I found when looking last year was via Plusnet £5 p/m (often discounted to £2.50) for online access and ability to cast to TV. Every other provider was too pricy for my liking!

bloody hell...that is cheap!! Cheaper than the £3.50 i'm on and that's with them........are you not effectively a BT customer with Plusnet anyway as something was nagging that they own them so it's money in the same pot at the end of the day??

No, if you're an EE customer that doesn't make you a BT customer either (or a Plusnet one come to that)

ok cheers....every day a school day in here......still it's a decent price regardless!

I actually misread the information i read about being a Sky Customer wanting BT Sport earlier on......it's extortionate nearly £30 in fact i think if you're not getting Sky broadband too....if you are it drops massively. I had forgotten that a lot of these deals with whoever are on the proviso you give them broadband/ line rental/ calls business!!
  • I haggled a good price for broadband and calls (£3 a month for 2 years) when it was contract renewal time in February, predicated on paying the year's line rental up front. The £2.50 price hike is 84% for me! How can that be fair?

Of course I can leave but they say I can't have a refund of the six months' unused line rental. Does anyone know how to beat that please?
