Morning all, I ended up having an early night last night, I was shattered :o Anyway, I've done the banking this morning, all looks positive and I've been paid so have already moved May's savings from my salary into the savings pot. I have an extra £23 a month to go in there now due to my payrise, nothing major but all helps :D I will update my signature too.

Today ds is going to the cinema with his friend, so I'm dropping them off then going to do the food shopping while they're there.

Well my to do list went well, I only have the ironing to do and the ongoing sink saga. I have tried using a plunger, although the one I've got is a bit small so doesn't seal properly, I need to get a bigger one tomorrow and I reckon that might do the trick. If not I will have to call a plumber and last time that cost nearly £400 :(

I have taken all my washing to Mums and done it there, three loads have dried on the line and it smells lovely, that's definitely a motivator for moving, I love line-dried washing :D The last load will need putting out in the morning then ds and I are going to meet my brother and collect Mum (she's been at his for a long weekend). We are driving some of the way then catching the train which ds is obviously very excited about :)

I have done a mystery shop today so have got a few pennies to add to the signature.

What's the problem with your sink? If it's not draining quickly enough, you can buy a gadget at scr**fix for £20 which twists/unwinds and clears gunk! If you need any more info, I'll look it up properly.

    I know it's £20 but that's cheaper than a plumber.

Thanks Dangers, I think its just a general build-up of sludge / grease / gunk - last time that's what they said but because of the way the pipes are laid out it was all a bit complicated. Anyway, I've tried every remedy available to man, even caustic soda and it's not shifted it. I will get a better plunger today and give that a go, I'm not keen on undoing bits myself as I worry I don't have the strength to do it back up tightly enough :o Then again, saving myself a few hundred ££ might be the motivation I need ;)

That's what ours was. It's actually called a drain unblocker. DH undid the pipes at the u bend (you need a washing up bowl underneath to catch dirty remnants).

I had the same problem with my kitchen sink last year, its a double sink and both sinks were slow draining and blocked. Tried everything but ended up getting a plumber out and he had to take all the piping out right back to the false wall! He only charged me £25 which was a very good. Got to get him out again soon as my en suite toilet not flushing properly now, there is always something to be fixed . Hope you get your sink fixed.

Thanks all, I didn't get a chance to get the plunger today as the whole dday was taken up with travelling to get Mum and back. We had a lovely lunch with my brother and his partner but I am quite tired now. I've had my bath and am looking forward to watching the footie and chilling out tonight.

Back to school tomorrow and it's the first day of exams for my boys and girls, very nervous on their behalf :o

So the first exam all went well today, I feel quite relieved that one is out the way now :o

After work I went and got a better plunger, it did make some funny noises and there were quite a few bubbles came up the plughole - I've poured the other half bottle of industrial strength drain cleaner down there and will leave it over night (it says leave for an hour minimum but ideally overnight). I'm not convinced it will solve it, if not I will go back to chucking kettle loads of hot water down there to clear some of the chemical stuff and then will take another trip to Screwfix and give that gadget a try. Then it will definitely have to be the plumber :(

Can't believe tomorrow is wednesday already, I like these bank holiday weeks :D

So this morning I tried the sink and there was no change :( I emailed a local plumber from work and then when I got home I had one final attempt at the plunger and suddenly the water went gurgling down the plughole :j :j I'm so happy, I think I might have just saved myself quite chunk of money as well as the hassle of getting it sorted while trying to put the flat on the market ;)

So, I'm just going to have my bath, then I will test out the dishwasher (it kept draining into the sink last time) and if all goes well I might even give the washing machine a spin later too :D I feel excited about getting the flat ready for the estate agent coming again now. Roll on saturday :D:D
