  • Hi I am worried about the tax credits too. I will lose about 200 pcm.

Sorry to read about your pay. It's annoying when that happens. You need to live.

Hope you get it sorted and eventually get some sleep.

It was a payroll mistake, and the brilliant stars that they are, sent it over right away. It was in my account by lunch time! I will need an early night tonight, feeling so tired after laying awake for hours trying to understand. Note to self, it is never a good idea to check you bank account when you wake up at 3am!

    Hello lovely lady,

Phew, you've been busy. You're definitely right about not looking at bank balances at 3am, but I also understand that if you hadn't you'd have been lying there fretting about it anyway. It's so good they transferred it to you so quickly.

Impatience can be a good thing as it keeps us focussed. I need some of that right now, to be honest.

Happy Pay Day and pay update day!

Wow, Catriona - we are the rarest 1% so google tells me!

I done a lot of reading, trying to place my friends based on their descriptions, I am curious to see if I have them right if only I could get them to take the test :)

    Hello :j

Infjs are naturally interested in that sort of thing. So do you find that you have a lot of N friends then? To me, that's the most necessary letter. I also like J people as friends, as they are organised, but love TPs for how realistic but easy going they are! My ideal partner would probably be ENTP.
I have given it some thought he he :rotfl:

I'm sure you'll be able to place your friends soon, the method is very helpful. It's helped me understand my own limitations and improved my view of my parents. Also let me understand that I must have been a hard child to have for my parents - we were bound to clash! They are both S, and my dad is ISFJ, which is hard going for our relationship, both ways! Mum is ISTP, and it's so enlightening to understand our dynamic too.

I'm so pleased you're into this. You'll have to tell me how you're finding it.

  • Hi

I'm another one that is worried to death about the cuts to Tax Credits. From what I can work out i'll lose between £150-£200 per month. I already live to an incredibly strict budget so I've no idea how i'll make up the difference. It's given me plenty of sleepless nights but I'm trying my hardest to ignore it until it actually happens.

Glad you got it sorted and hurrah for your lovely payroll people.

I agree with Catriona, as you get a bit of practice you will probably find you can place people on the types. I have found it really helpful at work and I keep a copy of this to hand for when I want to present something important to someone who thinks differently to me. I have friends of all types, although the only person I know who thinks in a very similar style to me is an ENFJ (we have three hour conversations that include picking up threads we lost 20 mins in, her husband thinks it's hilarious).

It's tough isn't it. I actually get more and more cross the more I think about it. DC promised to protect working people and when specifically questioned about tax credits he said they would not cut them. An outright lie that probably won him many votes.

He keeps justifying it with this living wage thing will counteract the cut. Well that doesn't take affect until 2020 --by which time it will not be a living wage, and supposed additional childcare help.......ie the 20% tax relief scheme which isn't for people on tax credits.

So actually today he lied twice on TV. TWICE

I have found a couple of calculators, I will loose £45 a week if I have calculated it correctly. So, whilst I am praying so hard they seriously review this I have to be prepared. I am going to try living to my expected budget - as soon as its confirmed it will go ahead. It will enable me to save for a couple of months at least and get used to living to a tighter budget. Deep breath........here goes!

A couple of weeks ago I applied to join my local help to buy, got my approval today :j
It doesn't actually mean anything until I have 1) a deposit, 2) legal fees, 3) find a property 4) a mortgage offer - but it was a nice email to receive and it suddenly made me very excited about the future.

Granted my savings have kind of ground to a halt, but I am hoping to be able to add some when my new pay kicks in, even if it is a little slow.

I have also decided that if a role comes up in the department I am doing the overtime is, I will definitely apply. Paywise its a fair amount more than I currently am on. I wouldn't be entitled to tax credits, but I *shouldn't* need them on the pay increase.

No indication as of yet if something will come up, the person I am covering for hasn't come back and nothing else has really come back to me. I am working and hoping the work do will stick in my manager's memory incase something does come up.

Not a huge amount planned aside from 2 layins, lots of housework and perhaps an autumn walk somewhere inbetween!

Oh, in other news I ended up purchasing YNAB! I will run my spreadsheet for a while longer just to be sure there is no risk of becoming overdrawn, that's just the cautious part of me, it needs to earn my trust!

I have scheduled all incoming and out going payments, so its only grocery, Christmas / adhoc spends and school demands that I need to put in manually as I go.

Talking of school demands, they are coming in thick and fast - discos, Christmas cards, photos, pantomime the list goes on £££££££
