  • Quite a productive day today, I have cooked a roast beef dinner, using a joint that was in the freezer and with existing veg and potatoes, also made my yorkshire puds so no spends necessary. :j

I want to reduce my day to day spending so I used leftovers from the fridge to make a minestrone soup that's been cooking in the slow cooker and smells delish!!! I will use this for lunch for 2-3 days, I also have cereal left from last weeks shopping that should see me through this week so I am going to leave my purse at home this week

I getting completely addicted to a more frugal life, I was invited to go bingo today and usually I would think, why not, and go! Today, I looked at my budget and thought 'I really don't want to spend any money', so didn't go ! Had a really nice afternoon instead with the family.

Hope everyone has had a great day

  • Phew, that's Monday done! Always a bit of a relief to get the first day of the week out the way, now nearer the weekend

Had a good day for reducing my spending. I took in my breakfast and my lunch so didn't go out and spend any money. I did the weekly shop at Aldi on my way home which came to £28.68 !!! I will need to get a small top up later in the week but that is still much less than I would have normally spent.

Updated YNAB before I started the car after leaving the shop, it is so easy to use and really keeps me focused!

I have enough soup for tomorrow so hopefully it will be a NSD.

Hope every ones day has been decent

  • Another day done and dusted :j

Have had a NSD today, took in breakfast, lunch and snacks from home. I really don't like spending my money at the moment, it's a whole new mindset that I am hoping to become as big a habit as my spending habit once was !

I am still rounding down my account every day so these small amounts are starting to build up nicely :D

Hope everyone's day has been good

  • Hi Sam

I too am finding that rounding down accounts is a great idea. It soon builds up.

I also agree about not wanting to spend money. I am turning in to Scrooge :rotfl:

  • Scrooge pals Yaayyyyy :j

    But..................

    Oh dear

Had a bit of a spendy day today. Most was justified, washing powder cleaning stuff etc. Also had to buy hair dye, another absolutely essential ;) Then bought a skit and top

The good thing is I have put it into YNAB and I can still manage this month, just !

Hope every ones day is good

I have only been using it a few weeks. It took a little while to get used to it as it made me think about money and spending in a different way. But I have finally got my head around it ! It may be worth downloading the free trial and doing the tutorials, they really help, then if you don't like it you haven't lost anything.

    Good luck

  • Been a busy few days and completely forgot to update my diary!

I have been a bit spendy over the last few days but all justified and essential though I do resent it slightly paying the dentist and hygienist £74  At least I have lovely clean teeth now :D

Still battling the budget and jiggling things around, it is going to be a bit tough the last couple of weeks before I get paid but I should make it, just!

I have just applied and been accepted for the TSB Classic Current Account so I can use this for my savings to get the 5% while I am building them up. I will also use the contactless card for £100 per month spend so I get the extra £5 per month bonus!. I then switched my main current account to their Halifax reward account so I get the £125 switch bonus, will pay my bills from this account and get £5 a month as well!!!

It was quite interesting as I have been rebuilding my credit worthyness and one account offered me a £1000 o/d, the other offered me £1750 !!! I refused both :D but did make me feel quite chuffed that my hard work was starting to show.

    Hope everyone is doing well

  • Good on you for refusing the OD on the accounts. How easy would that have been to think yay money lets spend.

You have done so well so far Roll on May 2016 for you.

  • I was very tempted with the o/d but sat there for a while thinking why I want it and if I really needed it, the answer was to spend on rubbish impulse buys, and no I don't need it!!

It's all about changing the way my brain is wired and it seems to be changing slowly .
