Sounds like you're doing great with your moneysaving so far... I am also a lover of YNAB. I started in January (post Christmas realisation that the debt was getting out of control!) and it has paid for itself many many times over already.

Just lost a long post and don't have the energy to do it again, so just a quickie.

Spending has not been too bad, but had to pay for a hens night out for next month which has blown my spending money budget for the month

Whatever happened to a night out at the pub for a few drinks for a hen night!! Anyway, the good thing is that I am very aware of my money as all updated on YNAB

Hope every one has a good couple of days and thank you for the concern regarding the pooch, sad that most of us seem to have similar stories though

  • You have done so well on paying off your debt so far you deserve a night out now and again. If anything it might just add to your determination to become debt free.

Its a while since I had a night out like I used to have, cost wise I mean.(showing my age now)

Everything is so much more expensive now.

    keep going and good luck

  • Isn't strange, through my years of overspending I was often miffed when people had unexpected windfalls (I know I know, but I couldn't help it!).

Today, I log into one of my bank accounts and there is a credit for £47.24 from a company I previously had a loan with that I paid off a while ago. So expecting the worse, I rung them to ask why and check whether it was a mistake. Apparently they miscalculated my settlement figure and through their internal checking procedures this has come to light, so yes I am due the money :j

Now, I know its not a lot of money in the scheme of things, but I am very chuffed! First time this has happened to me, in the first month I actually have budgeted carefully and stuck to it lol.

Being the sensible person that I am I have used £40 to add to my emergency fund, and the £7.24 to throw at my cc. Previously I would have thought "yay, more money to spend".

Hope every one has a great day :rotfl:

  • Well, its another rubbish weather day toady. I cannot believe I am seriously considering putting the fire on, but it is soooo cold :(

So plan of attack for today

    1. Do my meal planner for the week, this worked really well last week, knew what we were going to eat so spent less on shopping :D

    2. Washing to be done, will try and dry them in the conservatory but may have to resort to using the tumble dryer for a few bits if they are still not dry tomorrow

    3. Clean kitchen and bathroom

    4. Spend the afternoon cozy on the couch, maybe read a book and have a glass of wine or two, then a snooze so I can keep my eyes open past 10.30pm !!

Hope everyone has a great day

Woke up this morning and the sun is shining :j

It just puts me in a great mood. No great plans today, put the beef in the oven already, need to pop out and get some extra potatoes and carrots and my hair dye but apart from that I wont be spending any other money today.

Starting to feel really in control of my finances now, having my budget in YNAB is really working for me, I know I could do a spreadsheet that does the same thing as I have them for work but I really like the app so will probably buy it when the trial ends as I haven't been lucky enough to win a copy :p

A lot of my cc debt that I have left is on 0% which doesn't end until September next year and I will have more than enough in my savings to pay this off by this time so am not so stressed about the time frame anymore as finally the debt is working for me, not me working for it! The important thing is that I am not adding to it and am living within my means. I am rounding down my accounts most days with the aim to live on last months wages, this will take a little time but am confident that I will get there. I do think it is important to have a debt/life balance and finally feel I am starting to do this.

Hope everyone gets some of the good weather today
