  • I contacted Sky after their letter saying my monthly bill was going up to £84 a month. I said I wanted to leave, and got the same package for £65 a month and a new box and dish! Even better they were able to fit the new dish and box the following day. Happy with the result!

Movies, Box sets and Sport for £29.

    I'm happy enough with that.
  • Prev discount deal finished at Xmas, and then they hiked the prices, GRRR!

Just called and took the hardline cancellation route.. Offered 20% but held out and ended up with 40% off plus free broadband, a saving of £444 over the next year..

Anyone who pays full price must be mad!

  • I'm currently about 8 months into a 12 month Sky Q contract, however my 50% off deal is ending next month (as I joined partway through my Sky+HD deal).

The bill is rising from £64.99 (fibre and phone too) to £96.99. What are the chances of a reduction? I've heard some people getting extensions to there discounts but we haven't had a letter in the post. If I claim I had this letter would they have the ability to check mailings?

    1. No chance of negotiating a deal with 4 months left on Q contract.
    2. I suspect that these extended discount letters are part of a trial being run by Sky as a test of retentions strategies. As such they almost certainly know exactly who have been made the offers.

They'll know exactly what it is you've been sent so I wouldn't bother with lying to them.

The only way to find out about an extended deal (or anything else) is to actually ask them. Just tell them that you're not happy with the price going up.
  • 3.5 weeks since Sky switched off. Had a couple of calls, offers in My Sky and an email late last week. Went on chat at the weekend as the email seemed the best - all claim to be 60% but each comes up with different amounts ( I had sports/cinema HD and 1 multiscreen). Got it down from £92 to £41.40 which is 55% off the whole TV package. Turned it down I want the full 60% off as a minimum. Both the last phone call and the sky chat, told me I would have to wait for a better offer, so they are out there/on their way - I'll wait! To be honest managing perfectly well without Sky apart from the odd footy match.

If extended discounts work (I haven't been offered one) just think how many staff they can get rid of/how much money they can save, instead of wasting time with people like me.;)

Just called and cancelled as I'm conveniently moving house anyway in a month or so which ties in with the end of my current 50% offer.
Was given 40% off which isn't good enough and nothing off for sky sports and £12 a month on top for sky Q.

Asked her not to note my possible new house address as I haven't finalised he love and I could end up not getting it. Will that stop me getting any 'new' customer discounts ?

I'm happy to be without sky until I get at least 60% off and some cash up front. Plenty of good shows to watch on Netflix which I'm happy to get to tie me over and also have a new smart tv with iplayer which is what kids watch most of the time anyway.

Are they doing good offers on sky Q? Not sure what extra benefit that would give me. Does it have subtitles for all box set downloads? If not I'm happy to be without sky until they beg me to move with a good offet
  • I did an online chat with an Sky Adviser on Thursday and said the £80 per month was too expensive and Virgin were offering me the same level package for £55. He said he could get a discount to get me to stay and after about 20 minutes he offered me around £4 a month off - said he couldn't discount the movies or sports so I told him to cancel.
On Friday I logged into the Online Account via my Sky box and 'Hey Presto' I had a message to say I had an offer..... 60% off (except for the HD Sports Pack) so my bill came down to £35.50 (saving me about £540 per year!). If I want to upgrade to Sky Q Multiroom, the discount still applies to what I have so would pay an additional £12 per month (plus the installation fee of £55 for the standard Sky Q box). So go-ahead and cancel, if it doesn't work you can always change your mind at the last minute
