My wife and daughter went to Homebase in Bounds Green. Parked in Disabled bay and displayed Blue Badge.
My wife had an attacke of severe pain and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
I collected the car.
My wife received. 'Contractual Parking Charge Notice' dated 13 August with photos of car arriving and leaving, parking period 136 minutes where permitted Free Parking is 120 minutes.
Parking charge amount £100, reduced to &60 if paid within 14 days.
I haven't been back yet to check whether disabled bays allow extensions. I plan to ask store to intervene (their records should show their staff first aid involvement) and contest with G24.
Their process mentions IAS, not POPLA.
Sound ok?
Thanks in advance.

Read through the newbies thread on how to challenge the invoice.
But do understand the difference between IAS and POPLA0 -
so .... while you are reading the newbie thread as advised above ....
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822
then send off the soft appeal that you will find there .... BUT do not reveal who was driving going in or out..... I presume that your wife is the reg keeper? (could be interesting if they pursue the reg keeper.... who was in hospital at the time)
complain like hell to homebase ....
The IPC are the trade body that PPC's turn to when they do not like the rules that the BPA use
note the BPA are pretty useless .... but are made to look good by the IPC...
The IPC have an appeals body called 'skipies place' .... er I mean the IAS who run a kangaroo court ( hence my typo)

well just to confuse them , there are 2 drivers involved , so which one overstayed? the person that parked or the person that collected the car ?
no matter what you use in an appeal to the IPC it will fail ,0 -

I wonder what would happen if both drivers were named by the RK. :cool:I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

POPLA said it was the person who parked. IAS say it doesn't matter who parked, picked it up or anything else. Everyone is guilty on the basis that if they can drive, it might have been them as they had the ability.0 -
This is an ideal opportunity to test out their common sense. Eschew all the legal arguments, stay silent on loss, ignore signage, do not mention a word about contract or standing, just tell it as it is, and if they refuse the appeal go to the local papers, radio station, pals, Disabilty Rights, Uncle Tom Cobley and all.
Milk it, if they want proof, do not provide it. Name the drivers, put them on the wrack. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I wouldn't name the drivers. I would just say something along the lines of
"I feel this charge is unfair as I (registered keeper) was taken to hospital by Ambulance and noone was available to move the car until 10 minutes after the maximum stay. Please contact Homebase for further information. The original driver will not be named at this stage".
I'm pretty sure they'll still want paid, and then you can kick off everywhere you can think of, and put in a proper legal appeal to whomever the 2nd stage is.0 -

And more importantly, you won't be able to prove they didn't.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Go back to Homebase. If an ambulance was called, there is likely a RIDDOR report so they will remember you.
Get them to cancel for the obvious reasons! If they can't move onto the sites Managing Agents.
Hint: Drop the word RIDDOR at every opportunity especially if they have not made one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I e mailed Homebase customer services. They responded quickly to apologise and say they had contacted G24 and fine was cancelled.
I have e mailed them back to thank them and to ask whether G24 would be writing to confirm cancellation.0
