Parking Eye Advice

I’ve had a good read around the forums and have a reasonable background about the issues but still wanted to seek some advice on my situation.

I got a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye for staying too long on a retail park. £50 if paid straight away or £85 otherwise.

I was way over the 3 hours parking allowed (6 hours!) but was more concerned about giving my mum a good day out shopping (because she’s not been well) than getting a ticket.

However, now the ticket has arrived, the amount seems ridiculous. I have read the details of the recent court case where the judge decided that the amount was reasonable (what planet are they living on?!)

I intend to write to the company that manages the retail park; I have contact details from other threads about the particular retails park.

So my questions are:

· When I write to the company that runs the retail park do I follow the same guidance about not admitting I was the one who parked?
· Do Parking Eye ever accept an offer – so for example if I were to send them a cheque for £25 (I actually accept I’m in the wrong and would be prepared to pay a reasonable amount)? If so how would I best word this letter?
· What would you do in this situation? i.e Would you go ahead with the standard reply letter or pay up?

I don’t really want to end up paying £85 or more.

Thanks very much in advance for your help :)

first task is to send the template letter to PE (from the NEWBIES sticky thread) , ideally using it to appeal on their website , not naming or inferring who was driving

a strong complaint should be made to the landowner or managing agents, but again not inferring who was driving , so as RK only (complaint about the NTK)

no they do not accept lower offers normally, they now have the fish on the hook and want all of that fish

just follow the same procedures as the others, dont try to bick the system as its tried and tested

that court case is still under appeal, decision about october time
  • don't tell the land owner you were there for 6 hrs , go in nicely (almost begging) and saying how good and friendly shop "x" was how good the quality of food at shop "y" , etc etc , tell them you shop there often , and still have till recepts etc

finish , not quite with a threat , but a statement , that if they don,t get it dropped you will never set foot in the rancid smelling **** heap place again

obviously , use your own words !

I would also be tempted to go into some of the outlets , and ask if they can assist you

do not hand over the original letter , make some photocopies and add your email/phone number , try to speak to the managers , and tell them that you will return goods etc if they refuse to help

    as per both above ^^^^^^^^^^

so ..... as well as doing the above ....

complain to all the stores you visited,

(check if you still have receipts) .....

tell them you want to bring everything back as they are now to dear ...

Let them know how much this has disappointed the family and that you will make sure that every one you know hears about it...

Thanks very much for all your advice :)

I've now sent an email to the company that own the retail park (and got an out of office with a mobile number for an important person in the company!). I have also submitted my appeal to Parking Eye using the guidance on here.

The response from Parking Eye states that whilst they consider the appeal the charge will not increase. So just to confirm, does this mean they won't increase it to £85 until I have the outcome of this appeal? Can the charge increase to £85 if I need to take it to the POPLA stage?

Thanks again to all the lovely people on these boards! :T

  • Hello all, have been searching google for help re Parking Eye ticket I received in the post and have stumbled cross this helpful looking site. I've just joined to request advice so hope I'm doing it right!
I received a fine of £40.00 (more if not paid by 3.9.15) for being 15 mins over. I have receipts for shopping in Aldi which they manage the car park for as proof of using their store, but its' only for around £30.00 so doesn't really argue that I spent the 1.5 hrs allowed free parking just in their store as only a small bill. Therefore unsure if I should bother to appeal or just pay before it goes up to the higher amount. My arguments would be it was school holidays, very busy and had my children with me so went a bit over. Am I right to say they can only proportionally charge for time I went over? Any advice gratefully received.

£85 to a judge is a light lunch without wine.
So to them it is loose change, pocket money.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

first have a read through the newbies thread ....

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

amongst the advice will be to start a new thread so as not to mix up information that is specific to each poster

then start a new thread here ...

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

keep the receipt safe .... you will use it with your first appeal to parkinglie ....

    good luck
