sorry for the slow reply, been away for some days.
Thank you all for your advice it's very much appreciated. I found out from bt this morning that the dacs has apparantly been removed? Some one has also suggested trying to get bt to hook me up to another exchange? Is this possible? Otherwise it looks like its satalite. (thats sounds expensive).
Any way thanks again.

Thanks for the update. It's always good to know how people are getting on after discussing their problems. Getting the DACS removed is a good first step.
In large towns there may well be more than one exchange to which you can be connected but that seems less likely in a more isolated area.0 -
I dont live terrible far from a major town and there are some large villages about 1 mile of me in either direction, Its just theres a large common in between and im in the middle cant be more than 3 miles wide though. So whats the next step now the dacs is removed? Contact a new supplier like suggested? as bt arn't really helping, (do you know i found up to get this sorted and the lady wasnt sure what she could do, so she sent me 2 bottles of wine??? I dont need that i need broadband. Nice gesture tho.)
I forgot to mention there is a farm about 200 metres the away which get it from another exchange???
Thanks Julian0 -
P.s appologies for my spelling, as you can see im not the best typer and speller.0

If BT already have a line to your property from one of their exchanges, it is very unlikely that they would install another one to a different exchange unless you were a major business. Why not try the LLU offering already posted? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Yes UKonline appears to be the only LLU option available on your exchange although there are hundreds of ISP's that you could choose as your provider other than BT. UKonline have their own equipment in your exchange, so are not dependant on BT wholesale and can supply what they want to you with no dependency on BT's products. You need a business account but I can't see BT installing another line to a different exchange for a small business. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Thanks David.

Coincidentally, I saw my friend tonight. She has sorted out a reasonably priced satellite broadband service from a supplier in one of the nearest towns. Her builder/handyman is installing the dish for her and she is going out there in October and hopes to get it up and running ok.
I don’t know what system it is but hopefully she can get it to work ok.

She will definitely need a landline phone connection for the "uplink" part of a satellite service anyway. If she already has a landline then the most economical method is a flat-rate dial-up connection. Adding Onspeed to the service will make it "seem" like broadband speed for most purposes. Only a professional person needing to transfer large documents would want to pay for a satellite service. Make sure that she has not been sold a pup in terms of something that is unattractively expensive to use!0
