Unbundled is when other providers install their equipment in your exchange i.e. an alternative to BT.
If you have dacs on your line, it will need to be removed before broadband can be provisioned but this is not likely to happen unless an order is actually placed.

I have no prblem placing an order for this, so you recomend this company? and this company will also come out and then remve the dacs? is that correct? Do you see any reason why i cant get this issue solved? sorry again but im not very technically minded and this is a mindfeild for me.0

Sorry I have no experience of getting dacs removed or the alternative ISP which may suite your business needs well: i.e. low contention ration of 20:1, Freefone 24/7/365 English based technical support, Unlimited service with no download limits etc. etc. Click on this link for full details. You should be able to get dacs removed but not without placing an order first. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks for posting the samknows results.
Normally each telephone line needs to have its own pair of copper wires to the exchange. A DACS is a device which allows two telephone lines to share a single pair. BT use them when they don't have any spare wires in the locality but somebody wants a phone line installed.
You cannot have broadband if you have a DACS on your line so yours will need to be removed. BT won't do this until you have placed an order for Broadband, as espresso says. I suppose there is a possibility that they won't have any spare wires (particularly as you are in a fairly remote location) so they won't be able to remove the DACS. In that case, they may decline to provide broadband on the line at all or it may take ages while they dig up roads to lay cables.
The samknows results don't look particularly good, but if an engineer is sent out to remove the DACS he may be able to improve your line so you may get better speeds.
I don't know what Easynet's attitude would be towards the DACS.
Sorry to sound so gloomy but I hope this thread has helped you understand the situation and you get your conection sorted quickly.0 -
A quick solution might be to get a T-Mobile web'n'walk usb dongle, about £30/month 'unlimited' usage at 3g speeds if you are lucky enough to be in range. Has anyone ever heard of a router being successfully connected to a 3g connection though? Now that it's common to share 1 broadband connection among several computers.

As far as I understand it, any ISP will take your order and then contact BT Openreach to get the DACS removed from the line, so that ADSL can be provisioned. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi poolianjoole
I use ukonline as my isp and they are excellent.
One thing that it will be really worth doing is investing in the router they recommend as they will be able to give you a lot of support with that router.
Also you should, maybe more importantly, make sure that the phone wiring in your house is up to scratch. ADSL gets very twitchy on long lines and you might need to have your internal phone wiring optimised.
Take a look here: http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/
There will be loads of posts on this subject in the technical issues threads.
Don't be surprised if it takes a few calls to technical support to get a new adsl line stable from UKO, they run all their lines at the fastest speed they can, sometimes it leads to some instabilities. Be patient, they will sort it for you.
Good luck.

Presumaby BT Openreach charge for removing the DACS. I was wondering if Easynet would have a different attitude towards paying for this than BT Wholesale / a non-LLU ISP?0 -

I doubt that they, do as they put it there in the first place as a short term fix. BT openreach are responsible for supplying the telephone line to the subscriber. If a subscriber on a DACS line then wants broadband provisioning on their line, I believe that openreach have an obligation to remove the DACS if possible. If necessary they may need to add DACS to another pair of subs to enable them to remove it from the sub requiring ADSL, however more subs line cards may have already been added to increase the capacity of the local exchange. I don't see how either the ISP or the subscriber could be charged for the removal of DACS for the provision of broadband by any of the hundreds of different ISP's. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
