Thanks all. It's interesting and invaluable to have an outsiders perspective. Asking family who are affected by my decision does cloud my judgement slightly.
I think it's true that it would be sensible to secure a job before deciding to move. I initially thought about moving home then looking for a job but it could take months and it may lead to feelings of regret about leaving a good job.
My partner also mentioned today about going back to uni to do teacher training. This is something I always wanted to do but after completing my degree and moving down to England, I never had the opportunity to do it. Plus it costs money in England whereas i wouldn't need to pay in Scotland.
Anyway these are all just thoughts at the moment and nothing concrete has came of it yet but myself and partner both feel optimistic about moving home and trying to still make sure we aren't ruining any opportunities. I think him mentioning the teacher training was a way of reassuring me that even if I don't find the same job opportunity there is still potential to do something and develop myself back home.
As I have a degree the teacher training is a one year course whivh at the end of it you get at least one year work out of it which id obviously hope to maintain after that year. the salary is something that I would need to sacrifice however as my salary at the moment is probably at the level of "experienced teacher" although the living costs are much less ( London v scotland)
But my priority is to find a job id like back home related to the job I'm doing at the minute. But basically if I can't then it still leaves hope for returning.
At the minute we are lucky that my partners wage will support us without me working immediately however obviously the best option is to find a job as that'll help me feel productive and like I haven't ruined my future/opportunity by making the move.0
