Don't forget its still your work until she pays for it. So if it used (or partly) by someone else its theft.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Take the offer of a buyout, but maybe at £10k. Bird in the hand, and all that.
I wouldn't.
It may be worth looking into the idea of licensing the app to her, as an agreed cost per month.
No idea what this would be, as my limited experience of apps is revolving around a pre-built project, licensed for our use at a few £k/month, largely because it was a choice between that or remortgaging my house to buy the software outright (for what we have, you're looking at about £80k + about £1k/month and don't get that much extra from it)
I'd therefore for this sort of invoice value use the above as a starting point for negotiations.Next time, don't take a deal at any cost, only take a good deal. Nobody outside the industry can understand why IT projects cost so much - after all you can buy a laptop for £300 from Curry's. You need to cost it clearly from the start, you need to get an agreement as to what constitutes 'complete', absolutely spec the product to death so it doesn't become an all-you-can-eat software buffet (very common in inexperienced circles).
I'd imagine that most of the invoice value is time.
Think about it, would you pay someone a rate that you could make a profit on if you didn't know how to do it yourself? Noone knows how to do everything.💙💛 💔0 -
Another thought that did occur to me is going directly to the client and asking them if they would like me to finish the app.
But I believe that would be illegal as her agency came up with the designs/UX/ideas behind how the app works.
I do have all the original clients email addresses from their testing.0 -
Approaching your client's client direct is not a good idea (unless it is to let them know they are not getting their app anytime soon as the company they engaged to engage you hasn't paid-up).
Stick to taking legal action against your client. If she does then liquidate her company, then she no longer has any claims on the ideas behind the app, so at that point you can then approach the end client and negotiate a deal with them.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks again for the responses.
I've been trying to work out which lawyer I should be going to see. Some people have mentioned words but I can't remember. Basically is there a certain type of lawyer I should be seeing about this?Cheers again

Intellectual property, commercial, contract those are probably some of the types of lawyers people have suggested? Hopefully not litigation (yet...)0

Thanks Paddyrg.
From what I saw, or thought I saw nobody has suggested any yet. I will get to googling.0 -
This isn't an IP issue, you need a firm with clout who are used to dealing with debtors.0

Finding one is pretty dam difficult. None of them show up on google around google that I can see. At least without going to their website.

Many solicitors, if not most, do not have a website. You might have to do a little more than just using the internet.0
