I have never changed from British Gas and Southern Electric and pay quarterly by DD. I was going to move my gas supply to Southern Electric aswell but after reading these posts, looks like EQUIPOWER & EQUIGAS are good providers and very competitive - do you still think it would be a good move as the last posts are a couple of months ago now and I'm looking to switch. Noticed you can't switch to these via energyhelpline, so I guess I'd have to do it directly through their own website?

Any views would be great thanks.....

If you look at the recent postings, Summer, you will see someone asking a similar question about Southern Electric/EBICO.
Have been with them for a few months, no problems, transfer went smoothly.Still the anomaly of charging slightly more to counteract the direct debit discount, and this is explained on the website. Regards Ken.

i have noticed most of the postings are nearly 12 months old, so has anyone had any real problems with them or are they as good as their ethical statement says

as i am now considering switching to them

    cheers

Some were mine so here's an update:

I've used them in two properties now, one which I rent (keeps fuel costs down for the tenant). Also 3 friends have changed to Ebico. We are all happy with the transfers and have had not problems.

What do you mean about charging slightly more to counteract the DD discount? I'm confused! I changed to them in mid-July and have just had my first bill, it seems in order and they are charging the correct price per unit. Please let me know if I am missing something.

    Thanks.

The way the billing system works, EBICo has to charge a higher rate so that when the DD discount is applied it comes to the correct rate. So which ever way you pay for your bill the actual cost will be the same.

This may depend on which company is the one billing you for your EBICo energy.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Thank you Ken68, I searched under "EBICO" and found the threads, they've been really useful. I am thinking of switching but can you do this via the cashback comparision sites, or do you do it directly with EBICO via there website? When I was on the comparison site it has an enquire button but doesn't allow you to apply so I was wondering if this is because EBICO doesn't pay these comparison sites the money the other suppliers do?

    Yes Summer, go direct.
Good of Energyhelpline to show the comparison without getting commission.

Thanks again Ken68, I will look up their charges over the next few days and compare them with some of the others but I have a feeling they will work out cheaper. Thanks again..

    Roger,
Although I agree with most of your post, I think your recommendation would carry more weight when you have been with them for a period.

I'm still happy with Ebico 18months on.
They are still one of the cheapest and billing via Southern Electric is
easy - I like their fair trade not for profit stance.
