When you pay via their website, can you pay by debit/credit card? The Southern Electric website says that you can but I just want to be sure. If I go for the monthly DD option, do I also get the flexibility of paying by credit/debit card too? i.e. Can I "top up" the account during the month so that the monthly DD amount to pay becomes less?
Also - I assume you pay Southern Electric rather than Ebico themselves?
Thanks
Yes that what i do i pay by debit card and you will have two accounts. You can rename them on the website to gas and electric say and you make two seperate payments. Say you owe some money on the gas but have credit in the electric then just ring them up and they will transfer it over to the gas. So it all adds up in the ned. Its very flexible i find.
You get an email as a reciept directly on paying.
Not sure about the DD but i see no reason Southern Electric appear very flexible.0 -

If you are going for DD, why not make the DD from an interest earning bank a/c and keep your money until payment is due? That way you'll earn a little interest as well to save more money. :j
Not sure if they accept payment by credit card, their FAQ mail is info@ebico.co.uk. If they do then maybe a credit card with cashback might be better than interest from a bank account and the DD. You'll have to work out for your own circumstances.0 -

Not strictly on topic but does anyone use services/utilities that do accept credit card payments by DD(or continuous credit authority)?(except1899/18866)
The only one I have is Sky - which seems most unusual for a company that seems intent on grabbing every penny.0 -

Ah yes, good idea, thanksIf they do take credit card I'll go for quarterly non-DD billing instead and use my 0.5% cashback card.

I think most broadband Internet suppliers accept credit card.
That reminds me - I need to change my Sky payment from DD to CC to get some cashback0 -
Pipex accept CC.
I too can never understand why anyone would want the hassle of prepayment meters, they are the devil! It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Well I guess that's history. In the old days (?! :j ) before home computers it may have been easier to put coins into a meter than going to the bank or gas/electric board to pay. Someone else then collected the money from the meter.0 -

The 'someone else' was often the burglar!0
