It's up to the staff member to bite their tongue.
You can think what you like.... but you keep your thoughts to yourself, especially when not invited to give your opinion.0 -

Of course rules are not immaterial as the very large majority of the population will follow those rules.
Most shops have signs outside asking people not to eat or drink in the stores, and guess what, most people wouldn't think of eating or drinking in those stores.
How about putting your feet up on the opposite seats in a train carriage. Again, there are rules saying that you shouldn't do this and most people are happy to follow those rules.
Shop workers swearing at or generally using language that offends others is no different.
Yes, a small percentage of staff don't give a toss and will ignore whatever the store policy is but in general this will be very few as most workers will be happy to abide by the rules as they know that they are reasonable.
It's just about impossible to easily enforce many rules and laws but with most people, there is no need to enforce them.0 -
Those saying staff should follow rules... Are you implying Tesco does not have a rule about treating customers respectfully? I reckon they probably do0

Almost certainly and also almost certainly the majority of their staff will be following the rule. It's someone else's fault.0 -

But you agree that they cannot control the staff member's behaviour? They can tell them what they expect of them, they can offer training and guidance, but when it comes down to it no employer can control what comes out of the mouths of their staff.0 -

Yes and no. Some will follow the rules because they believe in the rule so you could say that that group are not being controlled. Those who break the rules are again obviously not being controlled. However the group that disagree with the rules but still follow them are being controlled. It's someone else's fault.0 -
I hate it when people slobber all over each other in public gay or straight, but I wouldn't bother to mention it though. Especially not if they were gay as you know they would think it was because they are gay, which isn't the an issue for me.No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
You have to be careful with things like this as people love to run to the papers saying that they have been discriminated against due to their race/religion/sexuality.
A lot of the time they are picked on not because of their race or sexuality but because they are frankly very annoying!
yet they then go to the papers and say it's because they are gay....0 -
Irony. The liberal, free-thinking gay couple, who demand that their views on homosexuality are respected by others and believe in equality, don't respect the views of those who disagree....0
