    Considerations:

    1. London has a lot of foreign people there. Worker may have been from a different culture/religion which does not tolerate homosexuality as much as we do. Granted it is their problem and not ours, but one may consider some discretion especially in a world where some people would have their heads chopped off for such displays.

    2. There is no evidence to back up the claim that it was PURELY a homophobic comment. It may be that the worker hates ANY public displays of affection and this was the first such instance on that particular day.

    3. Gay people can be a bit "in your face" at times, so they might have been taking it a bit too far! I have no problem with people who are gay, but (and this applies to straight people) there is a limit as to how intimate you should be in public. Especially in London of all places!!

Oh and replace Tesco with XXXX or YYYY or ZZZZ, because any employee in any store can lose their nut like this!

A company cannot control the thoughts, beliefs or actions of their staff.

PDAs are for children, or for adults in their own homes, maybe a pub or nightclub, but not really in a supermarket.

    Attention seeking maybe.

I can't remember the last time I wanted to have a PDA with anyone accompanying me to a shop. Wanted to kill them mostly!

This is a plant for publcity. In my humble opinion of course. LOL

Then it isn't a public display of affection is it?

    They can control their behaviour.

    They can control their behaviour.

They can react in response to the results of a behaviour, they cannot control a behaviour any more than I can control yours.

No they can't. They can sack them or reprimand after the fact, but this is not the fault of Tesco.

    I'd say 'attention seeking definitely'.

Otherwise why would they run to the paper with their 'story'?
Still, they got their 15 minutes of fame, I guess.

BTW - is this a praise, vent or warning?

They can control behaviour by having rules. Most staff will follow the rules but obviously there is sometimes the exception. Assuming Tesco have rules covering this type of behaviour then I agree it's not Tesco's fault.
    It's someone else's fault.
