    I think the original poster was thinking about generalities rather than one specific person


    so, on average and taking all things into account , where are better times than here?.

    Seeing as that was Mayo I wouldn't take it to seriously the article only seems to use statistic going back to 2009. I'd say things aren't as good as say 2004 but whether that was sustainable is open to debate.

    Things are pretty sweet in Australia right now. We have a very similar economy to the UK's only with better weather.

    it can get too hot there for a decent length cycle
    and the mountains aren't as welcoming as the Lakes or Wales
    but i concede Aus may be almost as good as here

    I think we should start to measure our progress against the likes of Oz, USA, Canada as well as the emerging countries.

    I worry that UK could get mired into an Europe stuck in a protracted low growth phase.

    There are some fantastic global technology developments happening in the US. I'm not sure why we can't aspire to similar.
