Great Barr, Walsall areas

  • Its difficult but I'd recommend avoiding the M6 area completely. Regularly are problems, crashes etc and then all surrounding areas are affected so even if you use a bus, its a nightmare. I got sick of hearing on the radio that there had been a crash miles away on the M6 (although obviously sorry for those involved), which was why I couldn't get anywhere again lol.

Wednesbury is twice the population of Aldridge & 3 times the population of Streetly. If you live on a deserted island the crime figures will probably be lower there too.

I've just checked rightmove and a 3 bed house in Streetly has a £100k+ mark up vs West Brom (even more for Wednesbury).

This is a young couple (probably not the biggest deposit) working in Walsall & West Brom (probably not the best paid), do you think they're going to be able to stretch to £250k houses?

    No 2 beds in Streetly
    Cheapest 2 bed in Aldridge = £120k
Cheapest 2 beds in West Brom/Wednesbury/Wider Walsall all around £75k

Gap gets bigger with 3 beds
    Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
    Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)

There is a reason the property in Wednesbury/West Brom is cheap, the areas are over crowded, run down dumps.

I have lived in the Birmingham area for 50years,I know most of it very well, suggesting people buy in Wednesbury or West Brom instead of Great Barr is laughable

  • I think even Wolverhampton, where I live, is better than West Brom!

I would suggest Streetly, Sutton Coldfield or Great Barr if you can afford them. I don't know the other places mentioned.

Trust me, OP. Walsall is up and coming compared to Wolverhampton.

I live in Wolves too and it's a loser raddled dump. Don't even consider it.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

They can buy a plot of land at Buckingham Palace if they have the £££, but I'm guessing they don't

We live in West Brom and it isn't bad at all! Not the greenest of places (countryside) but no worse than parts of Wolverhampton. OH and I both grew up in leafy green villages but unfortunately don't earn the money to buy a house in such an area. I am pleasantly surprised by West Brom - all the amenities and services we need are all near and we have lovely neighbours. Maybe we have just been lucky in the part of West Brom that we live in?

Thank you for all your comments. Think we've narrowed it down to Great Barr or Pheasey Estate ... maybe. Lol
