Win7 to Win10 Upgrade - epic fail - thanks Microsoft

Created a system image and recovery disk using Macrium Reflect
Upgraded from Win7 to Win10
After about 1 hour it was ready to go
Logged in, took it 10 mins to "get my account ready" blah blah
GUI displayed but task bar is black and has the rotating busy indicator when you hover over it with the mouse
What icons I do have on the GUI seem responsive and seem to work. I just cannot use the computer because I cant use the task bar.
This was a common issue on the preview releases by all accounts. Not much internet chatter about it on the production release. So I shall be using the Macrium Reflect recovery CD and restore my Windows 7.
I'm not impressed.

Sounds like Windows Explorer needs restarting ... find Windows Explorer in the Task Manager and then click the Restart button.

Since you've already "upgraded" try a clean Win10 install and see if that makes a difference.

My Win10 upgrade was ok, bit of an issue with graphic performance, but did a clean install and that problem has, for the most part, gone.

Forgot to mention, Task manager is "Not Responding"

I was hoping to avoid reinstalling all my applications.

A simple restart should solve this TBH. Or 'turn it off and on again' if that's not possible.

Best to think of it as a spring clean your your system! ;)

New OS + new clean installs of software = Less issues...

Will clean install not delete the upgrade files ?
With clean install it ask for Product Key.

A clean install will delete any existing programs/data.
A clean install will ask for a product key but IF the previous upgrade was successful this step can be skipped (it will use the key already allocated -and stored at MS activation servers- at upgrade time).

So since i successfully upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
I can now clean install any time in future if my PC suffers from fatal viruses ?
Is that what you mean ?
And I can use the .ISO image file to do the clean install ? Is that right ?
And I will not be asked for product key and after completion my windows will be activated ?
