Indeed - I always try and use months for the "good" stuff (time I won't be paying a mortgage) and years for the "bad" stuff (time I have left to pay off the mortgage!). After this Christmas we should only have 5 more where we have a mortgage payment to make. Actually, scratch that, 4, as our final payment will be made on December 1! :D

Had to read that twice Hiddenshadow! First read and I thought you meant you only had 5 more payments in total... as in you will be MF next year

But still that's exciting news. The time will fly.

Haha, I wish! Still, 5 more Christmases spent in debt isn't too bad. :)

No, not bad at all. Wish I could say the same.

For me to do that I would need to make my £20k OP and pay off £20k a year for the next 5 years!!!!!

I don't think so Lucky. Our household income is only about £45k as it is. Once the nursery fees are taken that leaves us with not very much lol

I know it's not very accurate, but I love having a little nose on zoopla at current house prices. Looked today and they recon our little 2 bed house is now worth £275K!!!!

It has no way gone up £75k in value, in the last 5 years. We haven't done anything to it.

If that's true, we would no longer be able to afford to buy our own property. Definitely a motivator to make some serious OP/savings towards a dream home sometime in the future.
