How much does a puncture repair cost?

Just for the puncture.
The first time it happened it was a company car, so I assumed that they just didn't want to be hassled with the paperwork. However, the other times were my own cars, and at different branches so they didn't know me as a regular customer.
To answer the thread - it's £10 for a repair either at National Tyres or at an established independent garage.0 -
Wow 12 replies and nobody has said how dangerous this is and how you should be driving on pristine tyres with 2 years from date of manufacture0

That was pretty quick, contacting every independent garage in the UK to establish their price in the time since the thread was started, and the fact that they all charge £10 suggests a cartel, shouldn't you report it to the Competition and Markets Authority?londonTiger wrote: »Wow 12 replies and nobody has said how dangerous this is and how you should be driving on pristine tyres with 2 years from date of manufacture
Or mentioned the number of children that could be maimed as a result.0 -

Are you saying it is inherently dangerous to drive on a puncture-repaired tyre?
Damn - I'd better get that tyre off that I repaired THREE YEARS ago! It's dangerous don't you know!
(Tyres are close to needing replaced now anyway - but not because of puncture repair, just tread depth).0 -
The busiest second hand tyre baron around here has just put his prices up and now charges £15 for puncture repair. I'm guessing that as his run of the mill second hand replacements start at £20, he is now generating a new supply for himself.0

part worn wholesale tyres are dirt cheap. The part worn supplier near me charges £30 a tyre. I wanted to know if they sold bran new tyres and they said they didn't then I asked how much would it be to fit a new tyre of my own that I buy online, balanced with new valve stem. He goes £20 per wheel!..
Tyre fitting is time consuming and tyre fitting establishments need lots of land to carry out their work. Some backstreet places will do the work on the public road but that is illegal. They need to have a large enough facility to be able to serve 2/3 cars at any given time and tyres are large items which requires storage so lots of overheads.0 -

If that were correct, how does a mobile manage it from his van? Large premises are usually needed to hold the stock.0 -

pretty sure it's illegal to carry out these jobs on public road. The mobile repairers are not a constant nuisance they'll be all over the place carrying out their trade. So police wont really bother them.
You'll know about the legalities when you're on a fixed address and it becomes a nuisance to residents and residents complain to the council.
Read thread on car salesmen selling their cars on public roads.0 -
Decent second hand tyre companies get them by the truckload from Germany. The loads are usually complete for a single buyer, but can be broken down for lower volume operators which are easily stashed in a lock-up, never mind huge premises.
You really need to put your tinfoil hat on if you think a mobile tyre fitter is acting illegally. The AA and RAC will be out of business tomorrow.0 -
Kwikfit charges £26.50Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
