I'm hoping to be mf in a similar timescale as well - good luck with yours. As for your rate its not that bad, certainly not historically. I fixed for ten years in 2007 at 5.99 now that really was silly :rotfl: im about to sign up for a 3.24% mortgage next week and I'm fairly pleased as its all I can get.

That's a decent drop in rate and frees up some money :)

I'm thankful for lower rates for sure compared to the previous decades :)

Talking of previous interest rates, came across an old bank passbook (remember those), and makes for interesting reading. In 2008/9 I was been paid over £850 and £720 just in interest:j:j, the next year it dropped to just over £52:eek: for roughly the same amount of money in the BS.
Anyway found I still have £293.49:D that hasn't been touched since 2010. Maybe it will reach £300.00 when I go on Monday to close the account, but will not bank on it, the way interest rates are.
Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's

    Welcome, newbie. ;)

As a fully signed up, switched on MFW, here is where I am meant to impart my extensive knowledge of becoming mortgage free. However, I've no wish to insult your intelligence.

I thought everyone knew that it needs to have at least 6 cylinders to be called a car. :D

Ooh £300 is a nice little OP amount to find :)

Alex :rotfl: Did I read you were starting an S&S ISA? You're ahead of me there if so ;)

It's a MFW car - cheap on everything. V12 toys are in the retirement plan :D

And I'm taking the new office, so the wheels are turning on that and it's going to be a busy time off work over the coming weeks.

Spreadsheet fiddling done and I am hoping for September's capital payment to be £1065 (paid end of August to maximise interest reduction).

August's capital payment was £975 and went on the 28th July, interest payment came down by £3.10 for the month, or 10p per day.

I'm way behind on the housey stuff, DIYers are working away and DS has actually come out of his room to seek breakfast :rotfl:

Catch up later and have a good day all. :)

    :rotfl::rotfl:

First car..hmm..a yellow peril Ford Escort Mk II called Livvy. Classy with it's one wing mirror and go faster black tape :rotfl:. Pretty apt...it's 30 years and 2 days since I passed my driving test. First time too!

No pressure then INOD ;) I'm loathe to set too many goals as I change my mind like the wind and life has too many variables - first one is below £100k by end of next year. The December payment will get it's annual Christmas bonus like last year :D How much - we'll see how business goes and how my health stacks up :)

I have indeed started a S&S ISA, it has a total of £400 so far (not counted in savings), hardly going to retire on that.

Driving a 3 pot means you are more committed to MFW than I, then. :rotfl: Not a chance that I'm saving the V12s until retirement.

Glad to hear you're taking the office. :)

Hey MiT  - you'll be bashing the mortgage in no time at all, at the rate you're hitting the debt :D

Alex, S&S are for the long term. I've still not started down that route and got less years to retirement age  Pension pots ready to be moved to a SIPP...must catch up with Lilty on that one. :)

Miss Sensible today..who knows if that'll last til mortgage freedom. Least no posters of fast cars on my bedroom wall a la teenage years to tempt me :rotfl:. However, the garage is once again completely clear :T . Where once a sports car lived, it became the collection of clutter from the house...ready for many a car boot that didn't happen :(

So bull by the horns time and I have:

    - taken one small car load to the tip
    - filled the car with much booty for the Charity Shop
    - listed more booty on Fr33cycle - 4 items taken, 8 to go :)
    - given the Headteacher in our cul de sac trunks full of Thomas the Tank track, engines and carriages and Lego for her school - she is delighted and many children will get to enjoy it :)

Anyway, a NSD yesterday, washing all dried on line and put away (minimal items to iron), all meals from stocks and a YS duck for dinner and LO tonight.

Should be a NSD today too, tomorrow I am working and trying to clear the office at the same time. Moving the big stuff on Tuesday (with alot of help from a friend with van) to my garage...until new office is vacant which is looking like end of September  So back to working from home study for a few weeks post wisdom tooth extraction/time off with DS/enjoying nearly finished garden :D
