Could the boys not drop you off enroute to school clubs etc and you make your own way back? Or is it too far?
Good morning
The sun is lurking somewhere out there today... I keep getting a glimmer of light;)
One poorly monkey already, Littlemans only been at school a week and he's got a temperature, runny nose and a bad cough:(:( he was most upset when I said he couldn't go to school today
QOC have a lovely holiday
I'm actually missing the chatter in the car on the journey to school and home and thankfully they both agreed this morning that its "not the same without you mum"....
I fully sympathise with the coughs and colds and runny noses at the start of term....usually it is the boys that pick one up within the first few weeks back....this year its me and OH that are full of them!

Hope LS will be ok. I think the problem is these days people are chucked out of hospital too quickly and dont always get told about what they need to do at home. Although Sepsis is serious she has age on her side. Thinking of her today
Exactly.
My Dad was sent home from hospital with a catheter which he was supposed to be able to change himself despite having arthritis in his hands. The district nurses were only supposed to come in a few times a week to check on him so we and Dad also were forever ringing them and leaving messages - physically and mentally he found the entire process challenging
So he had a fall, went into a home and never came out again“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
just that little bit too far to walk home if they dropped me off at school....and if I took my own car it would negate any saving...I am going to try and negotiate with them that I take them in on a Thursday each week so at least I get a little look at the reduced counters.

We used to have very long and involved discussions and conversations on the car trips between home, school, college and outside school clubs - sometimes the trips were half an hour to an hour long picking a child up and dropping another off or nipping into the supermarket en route - best time for having proper talks without any distractions so you got to know exactly what they were thinking and doing etc.
Mind you this was in the olden days before everyone was glued to their phones and tablets constantly
I also used to take baked potatoes wrapped in foil, soup in flasks, filled rolls and fruit so no one died of starvation before we got home“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Best thing is to throw caution to the wind, live on the contents of the freezer and value beans for the next 2 months, ebay and car boot everything in the house that you don't need ... but make sure you both go on this holiday :j
For months you have been sorting your daughters wedding so now its time to prioritise yourselfs
You say your sisters OH has been unwell - but he is fit to travel now which is good, another year it won't be as easy if he becomes unwell again so seize the moment - there is nothing worse than looking back and regretting and wishing you had done something
I actually already have a basket of things ready for ebay and have 3 full freezers!! My sisters oh is not too bad just has mobility issues. He had a bad stroke 13 years ago but manages really well. Has a mobility car, a buggy and a portable buggy that we will take with us.
This is the villa she just found

My oh is struggling looking after his elderly parents so could do with a break. Him and my sis are keen walkers so they can do that while me and bil lie in the sun.0 -

This all sounds perfect - apart from money being a bit tight and when us it ever not tight
Looking after aged parents for long periods is very exhausting - as long as there is plenty of back up for them - my neighbour used to go into respite for a week when her son was away as he was an only child.
If you can bear to do it, switch your phones off when you are away - this is very hard to do but it's the only way to totally relax - if you are not expecting the phone to ring“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Right all caught up now, back to tackling the To Do list

Morning all :hello:
Just popped on to wish QOC a good holiday and sending good luck to cjj
I see that poor ladyshopper has been having a terrible time lately so sending you huge hugs and hope that you are on the mend really quickly :A Thank you bubbs for keeping us updated:A
Also sending belated birthday wishes to anyone I have missed and a welcome to newbies. I see that tinyshoes is enjoying her long awaited holiday:)
Rose don't feel guity about taking advantage of your sister's generosity. She would have to pay for accommodation and a car whether you go or not and you would also be helping her to enjoy the holiday aswell, go for it:) Been meaning to say how beautiful you DD's wedding photos were, so classy and traditional, you must be so proud:j
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Good morning
A.com doesn't have any multis on the pots and coke and most of the ub rice.
Does that still mean it's good to go today?
Thanking you
Edit: oops, ignore the above question, I can't see any good comparisons (barring unreliable M for coke) even it it did workRISEABOVEHATE

we never use our phones on holiday....they are taken but switched off at the departure airport and switched on at the arrival airport on our return....only once have we ever broken that rule when one year my mum was ill and my OH checked midway though the holiday for an update on her condition.
I've always had the mindset of what will be will be and being thousands of miles away wont change the outcome...whatever happens can be dealt with on return.
We really do switch off when on holiday..all of us and if we can find a hotel without tv's in the rooms all the better.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
