I feel your pain.
I was more or less in charge of the sale of m-I-ls house which even though it was only a few years old, it took eventually an entire year from start to finish to sell.
I had eldest child living in it so it was still occupied and she was minding the dogs until we finally managed to rehome them.
Then she got into uni through clearing and so the house was clear of dogs and kids.
It wasn't though until December we finally got an offer and even then it was March before the final paperwork went through - she died in the previous April.
It took me months to clear the house with some brawn from sons but mostly me.
The ironic thing was most of her life she hated me.
With my Dads house we put it on the market very shortly after Christmas after he went into the home and we got a buyer very quickly and it looked like it was going to be a simple 3 month job.
sadly this fell through. The next buyer came along very soon but he messed us about and cost us quite a lot of money. Again by the time the paperwork went through it was Christmas so that took 11 months. And again it was me left to do the house clearing. But my dad was still alive and healthy at that stage so at least the 2 processes were separated.
You can see why I am so keen now to try and declutter as much as I can now, while we are both able and in sound mind - I really don't want my kids having to face house clearing like Ive had to do
Morning
Is there anywhere it isn't raining? the weather says everywhere north of me is wet  I absolutely detest driving on wet motorways with lots of spray. I'm putting off my journey until this afternoon in the hopes that it stops or at least calms down a bit.
Luckily I haven't had a house to clear as such. My mother passed away quite a few years back and her partner had been living in the house......her wishes when she passed away. So there wasn't really much, if anything, left of her in the house. It's not a place I'm emotionally attached to because I only ever visited here there on a few occasions. The partner passed away too, quite some months back now. I barely knew him as they didn't get together until later in her life when we weren't particularly close.
So it's all been quite clinicalapart from 2 boxes of random stuff found in the loft which did include some baby/child photos of me and a few other nostalgic bits. I'm actually quite happy and relieved to just be closing the door on it and moving on.

I asked various workmen what they thought also him next door and DS and they all said what I was thinking get rid normal light and just have strip light
So Alison making phone call to get said light removed :T.
Will post pic of lights when grouter gone those with OCD better not look at pic:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Raining here too, wherever here is- glad we had a day out yesterday rather than today. It could be that as we are all generally anonymous on here we are all in the same areas (some in the same house) and do not even realise it ...

Good morning what a faff I am having to get into MSE this morning:eek:No rain at the moment but not sure how long that will last0

Not sure if it was here that I saw this yesterday, if so thank you to the OP
Check your sainsburys nectar account for new bonus items - even if you checked it already this week check again as new ones have been listed and some need you to activate them
One very nice one is to spend £5 in Argos using your nectar card - 500 points and then 1000 will be added back onto your card - so this is one that you need to activate - don't just go to Argos and hope it works
I found it on OHs account yesterday but then when I rechecked mine today its also on mine :j
I set OH the challenge of finding something for £5 so he looked at the new catalogue and straight away he came up with a recharging thingy - for £4.99 - when I said that was no good, had to be at least £5 the catalogue went in my direction :rotfl:
so now I have to tell him the challenge is now to get 2 things for £5 or more before August 19th
so can anyone suggest anything - the only thing I really need is towels and only sale ones - what else can you get for a fiver in Argos?
The one good thing about this is that we now have Argos inside our sainsbobs so this saves having to go into town and 70p in parking. The downside is that they opened the slurry pit close to our store yesterday and it reeked, even inside the store :rotfl:
I rarely even look at Nectar, just keep adding points if in S. I have just looked and have £350 worth . What is the best way to spend these please?
I see in the bonus section that if I convert to eBay they will give me 30% back (feel sure I have seen a 50% offer earlier in the year discussed on here? If yes, may wait as that seems a reasonable way to spend?). Also 3000 bonus available from spending at Viking with no apparent minimum spend (normally 30 minimum spend, I recall previous offers could be met buying the Post Office gift cards).
[STRIKE]Is S Nectar account different to going to Nectar direct? No mention of Arg0s for me though.[/STRIKE] Ignore that, it is there just didn't see it (was looking for an Arg0s logo but it just has a Nectar logo next to it - probably available to everyone then

Iv got this offer too, just wondered if I could just buy a gift card0 -

I have in the past and they have been credited (T&Cs of bonus offer only refer to stamps being excluded) - just checked and would need to spend £30 to avoid the postage charge though. Giftcards are One4All - CS willing years ago, I used them in B00ts to buy 3V, then used 3V to buy A gitftcards. A long work around - One4All are accepted at plenty of places. Worth a punt as you can generally find somewhere to spend them and nothing lost if the points don't turn up. This offer closes 20/8.

The Sainsburys double ups are useful so its worth saving up for them especially if you will shortly need to replace small electricals like kettles etc.
Ebay is a good one, if you connect your nectar to your Ebay account there are regular offers. I've bought things from ebay and used my nectar points to pay.
I've also bought Amazon gift cards in store when the credit on my Amazon account was running low but these also made good gifts for the people you find difficult to get presents for.
If I need to get something from Argos I use my nectar points - Argos do sell gift cards like Marks and Pizza Hut so again there is potential there.
There is an unconfirmed rumour that the sainsburys Tu 25% off sale is due to start on the 19th so that's a good way of using up some points - the 25% comes off even sale items. This is a good way of restocking on the everyday stuff like socks, underwear, white shirts for work etc.
But keep checking the bonus points section as it seems to be constantly updating. I went through both accounts very carefully yesterday looking for the Argos offer, found it on OHs but not on mine but today its there - convinced it only appeared overnight.
I've also got a couple of bonus points whereby you have to buy a certain item and then bonus items get added automatically. These need activating. at the top of the bonus page you get 2 tabs, one says all and one says activated so you can see what you have opted into.
Its worth just activating everything even if you think its something you would never buy. I had one for John West steam pots for 150 points which I activated weeks ago. Finally this week it came down to £1.50 so I bought it - VIP coming next week and she can eat it for lunch
Everything I bought yesterday was either for bonus points or cashback and I used two wombled BMs and a conditional spend and very little real money.
Not many of my nectar points are actually for spends in sainsbobs.
Quite often if you do an activity then you will get a survey a few days later about your experience for which you get bonus points.
For instance in the recent double up I swapped nectar points for Pizza Express vouchers and this generated a survey which will give 50 bonus points.
When I've spend my 500 points in Argos I expect there will be another survey for another 50 points.
on my travels if I see a strange sainsburys or sainsburys local I will go and spend £1 - quite often this also generates another survey - very quick these are to do.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Sainsbury usually do a double up just before Christmas. I cant remember all of the categories but I bought electrical, toys and household. Clothes were definitely included and I think wine and champagne was but not beer or spirits.
Eta, oohh thanks Mhoc, I didnt know you could buy Amazon gift cards0
