I don't know if anywhere has any particularly good deals for comparison but I was doing a tic tac glitch shop (thanks Sad_Dad) and noticed the muller lights multibuy was missing on a.com so I've chucked some that I was buying anyway into the shop.

Thanks for this, I know MSM isnt the bible it used to be, but looking on it today, the reed diffusers are £3.50 in T, anyone think it would compare to this? Don't mind either way but just trying to compile the right list!

I think msm have linked them up incorrectly...

I've not looked at all the signature ones but for example...

our builder took all of the wood bits out of the boys room last year - things like the wood from the partition wall, skirting boards etc and the old door and they have been piled up at the back of the porch every since along with 2 tyres and 4 alloy wheels
It is a bone of contention.
I was hoping to have youngest son here long enough for him to help his dad take it up to the tip - they have a specific wood recycling section - son was never here long enough to do anything. Eldest son has been home briefly most weekends this year but he only had a min and he also refused to do a tip run.
OH said he would rather get a skip delivered but I objected to him paying a least a hundred quid for a skip.
I did manage to get OH to go to the tip once with the small stuff - old electronics and strimmers etc but the mess didn't look any better.
But in the meantime OH took out 2 storage heaters so the wood has now been joined by the metal panels.
We finally have the builder back but instead of 5 days we only have him for 3 days now so there probably wont be time for him to do a tip run in his van. some of the wood is very long so we would need his tools to cut them down to size, more time.
And the pile is going to be increased by taking out the old shower and its components and possibly the old loo and sink as well

We have a visitor next week, told OH I am ashamed of the mess and it is being covered with a big tarp

I think the main issue is that OH does not see it as a mess but possibly this is a male thing - he is also supposed to be in charge of the flower borders in the paddock but he cant see obvious weeds. He says to me he has done a through weeding so I go and look and point out the sticky weed, nettle, dandelion, etc he has not spotted :D

Good morning all, it's a tad wet out there.

It is driving me mad, OH decided that the woodwork we have ended up with from the spare rooms can be cut up and burned by "us". I have done all the cutting up, apart from a bit of MDF which is rather difficult to cut. I am now trying to fit in the burning bit. There is a LOT of wood, all sitting on the patio and now wet but that is not the problem. Every day this week (apart from Tuesday which I needed) he has needed my help on job for the morning. He couldn't manage to arrange two jobs that he needed me for in one day, always the mornings. "We" need all day to burn this wood, or at least a good part of it. It might burn fast, it might not. We got home on Monday at lunch time and he thought there was plenty of time between getting home and making dinner for "us" to burn it all. He has no idea, and he might help me for a few minutes but then something will occur that means he can no longer help. He needs my help this morning and tomorrow morning, these two jobs could possibly be fitted in to today but he does not want to do it that way  I am hoping I might manage to do it next week, but I need a day when people are not going to have the washing on the line but it is not raining too badly. OH would have piles of stuff everywhere if I didn't fend it off, a patio full does not disturb him, but I hate it and am desperate to get rid of it :(

It is rather ridiculous, on the continent you can't drink the water full stop, and a lot of those people complaining probably buy bottled water anyway  I am not in the area, but I know a lot of the people locally buy water and I have never quite been able to understand why.

Another thing that annoyed me, a few years back the EU said our water was not up to standard! The only place in the EU where I have ever thought you can safely drink the tap water and they criticise the standards of our water

Does a scrap van not come round? Anything metal we have we just put at the end of the drive and it is gone the next day, so I am sure they would take your storage heaters.

its a difficult one isn't it - recognizing the point when your children are adults and financially capable of looking after themselves.

Youngest son is on a very low income and always will be but he is fiercely independent The only way I can get him to take money is if I just put it straight into his bank account. He did 4 years of college and 2 of uni and he was living at home and we supported him throughout but he had a part time job from the age of 16.

Eldest child we supported through 4 years of uni and beyond despite her having various student loans and a part time job. we have also told her to come to us rather than getting into debt so she has had money for her car, insurance and various things to do with flat moving so she is paying her dad back for this, so much every month.

but for their big trip later in the year her and BF got a no fee credit card to pay for the flights and they are paying this off every month and ahead of schedule.

and now she has moved jobs and possibly earns more than us she is def grown up.

Eldest son has always had a good income and he has always been a good spender as well :D
when he had to get a car recently there was nothing suitable that he could get just with his savings alone so he got a bank loan. we could have loaned him the money and then he would not have been paying interest but what would be the point of that be - this was something he very much wanted so he has to learn to control his finances.
and anyway he also earns more than us :D

DS3 keeps saying that a normal lappy is too much money, and we should just make a contribution.

But I have an issue/hangup from my childhood.

My parents would give us £x amount for birthday/xmas, and never put any thought into a gift. If we asked for an item, they would buy this but only if it was within the allowance (not a penny over).

I do the opposite for the kids. I want them to have a present from us and something that he will enjoy and love... hence the Apple.

For all our kids, we have celebrated their 17, 18, 20 and 21 birthday.... I rather like celebrating their birthdays. For the 17th they got a banger of a car, for their 18th they had a party, small gift and car insurance, for their 19th, small gift and car insurance, 20th marked the end of their teenage years, so it was a party, small gift and car insurance etc.... they all received 'car insurance' as their main birthday presents but only whilst they are in education.

DS3, left school at 17 and has done really well, he is the only financially independent child that I have!
