Can I sue Vodafone?

  • Activating my pay as you go sim is irrelevant. I paid my final bill and closed the pay monthly account

Have you raised a formal complaint to Vodafone?

If you have, and are not getting anywhere, raise it to Ombudsman Servicess:Communications - see

I've raised several, spent 5 hours on the phone, spoken to 6 different unhelpful people.

    Hi Lee,

No offence to you, but help from Vodafone isn't worth anything (I'm guessing I can't swear here). I found out today the house I was buying has had an offer accepted. Not only did your company cost me higher interest rates you've also cost me a home.

Consequently I'll not be a tool in Vodafones 'we're really helpful' online customer service marketing efforts. Why don't you check your Facebook page which is completely full off people hijacking your marketing posts to complain about the poor service and even worse customer service.

Not only will I never recommend Vodafone, the very mention of the name will be followed by myself with an expletive and also and endorsement of EE. Their service isn't brilliant but at leafs they didn't cost me a house and thousands of pounds extra on a future mortgage.

    Hi Lee,

That's true as a whole about Vodafone but the trick you are missing is that Lee is the only person in the organisation that can actually help you.
Choosing to not accept his offer leaves you high and dry.
You still haven't said if you activated the sim by the way.
It's not just about the money

I've not activated the Sim, as I stated before why would that effect my credit score. If you are referring to the fact that I need to activate my sim to cancel my contract that's nonsense. I paid the remainder of my contract off and asked for it to be cancelled to move to a pay as you go.

And as stated unless Lee can give me 15k compensation and convince the sellers to reject the offer from the other buyer and get me the house then he unfortunately can't help
  • Hi Lee,

I've spoken to Stephen Davage (sp) whom I was told was head of customer services and also you colleagues in CS. I was told two weeks ago I would get a call in 48 hours. This is only being looking into today. If the chap calls me back today I've been told this will take another 6-8 weeks to be answered by the Q&A team.

I've asked for the phone transcripts to prove my innocence but they said these have been deleted. Consequently I've been informed that the likely hood is that Vodafone will decide that they are not in the wrong and as a result I won't be able to get a morgage for 6 years?????

All for £15 which you never told me I owed after 6 years as a loyal customer.

If you can help with all of this then now is the time.

It's not nonsense at all !
If you didn't activate the sim then the porting of your contract will not be able to happen and the contract will continue until you port out.

When you do a porting request the contract remains active until the process is complete unless you cancel the contract later. Once completed the final bill is generated.
Why would you ask to port to a payg if you didn't intend to do so ?

If you wish Lee to help you, you need to follow the instructions he gave you

You say so. Any other source that confirms this?
Also, the term 'porting' is used for transferring number to another network, not within a network. The procedure you describe is for porting to another network.

They tell you when swapping to turn on the new sim and if it doesn't swap to keep both of them turned on until it does
If you don't how is the number going to transfer ?

The term porting comes from "number portability" .....to me that means portability of your phone number not only between networks but also between sims ....however if you wish and it keeps you happy we shall agree to call it transfer :rotfl:

May be they do, maybe they don't. We know very well how goodrolleyes.gif their telephone CS are.

I am no expert, but I don't see any problem with transferring to a not activated sim within the same network. In fact I don't see why a new sim is needed at all as many (most?) networks do this without a new sim.

Fine. Porting at least is described in some Ofcom regulations, that are irrelevant regardless unless the T&C refer to them.
Transferring isn't described anywhere. I am happy to be proved wrong - that's why I asked you about "any other source".
That said, I did find some description of reverse process - from PAYG to pay monthly, but it's not the same and a customer isn't supposed to search and to check anything besides the T&C of the contract.
