Unplanned Overdraft Charges At Worst Possible Time

Hello,
I am sure someone may have asked this already but I couldn't find it. I am a Bank of Scotland customer with a Student Current Account. I have finished my course and currently receive benefits for myself and my daughter. The past couple of years things have been tight and most months I have had bank charges of one type or another which I have been happy to pay, its in the terms, they inform me, etc. However this month has been a major struggle as my teenage niece has had to come and live with me due to an abusive household and tax credits didn't complete my change of circumstances correctly, which was rectified last week and is being backdated in 3 days time (which they confirmed bia telephone). Anyway as a result I have been supporting an extra body on an already low income. So, I had just enough to cover us then the bank took £58 in charges from my account. They did write to me at the start of last month telling me about these charges but it had just totally left my head which I know is my own fault and responsibility.
My question is, has anyone ever been given a one time refund of charges by bank of Scotland? How likely is it they will take me up on it? Because otherwise I have no idea what I will do.
Like I said I know they have no obligation and it is my responsibility but I always pay charges so didn't know if this would be taken into consideration.
Thank you in advance

if u give them a ring and you sit through some kind of debt management phone call (tell them ur struggling and you wont be able to pay etc), they MAY just wipe the charges as a one off, if you make it clear that the overdraft charges will only overdraft you even more

What are your charges made up of? Unplanned daily fees, usage fee, interest??? It's worth asking them for help - if you don't ask etc etc
If it's a Classic account, ask them about 'Control', it will prevent unplanned OD charges and give you chance to get straight.
