I was on Depo for 8 years, no periods but gained a stone or so in the last 12m, was due for another last week but after my oestrogen levels were checked was told I can't have any more....so had a Mirena coil fitted last Tues....boy did it hurt! Having had no period pains for 8yrs meant I'd forgotten what it was like!
Oestrogen levels at my age (43) should be in mid-hundreds, 400-600 but mine was 27....but apparently they will recover so will keep you posted!0 -
Don't forget if you leave it over 7 days before your next Depo jab you will have to have a pregnancy test.....0

I was on Depo for about 7 years, came off it about 6 months ago because I had a bone scan which showed I was well on the way to osteoporosis. I knew about this risk but didn't take it seriously; now I am literally a dairy queen trying to ingest as much calcium as possible.
While I was on it Depo was great. My periods went from excrutiatingly painful to nonexistent and I did not miss them one bit. I didn't think I had a low sex drive, but since coming off it I have turned into some kind of sex pest (OH a little alarmed but not complaining). I am on Implanon now and it's fine so far, still no periods but that's fine by me.
Not trying for kids yet, so have no idea how this will pan out eventually, but if I have problems I will be more inclined to blame whatever was making my periods so painful in the first place (maybe endometriosis etc).0 -
I was on the depo for 4 years then stopped to try and concieve which took 18 months went straight back onto it after dd was born for another 3 years then changed to the 3yr inplant.
I have not had a period yet (which im not moaning about) so no periods for about 9 years for me, im dreading them returning.
I had no side effects at all with the depo and none so far with the inplant the only reason i swapped to the inplant was the injections came round too quickly and 3yrs between changing inplants is great.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0
