Contraceptive Injection (depo) safe to stop?
Comments

I was on the depo injection for 6 years, I stopped when me and OH decided to try for a child. (I had been on it since having a previous child)
I read up on everything about stopping the jab and was really worried but I managed to concieve after a few months.
The only downside is my periods now are quite heavy and I suffer awfully with pains whereas before I had not.
I assume this is from the injection although I am now coming up to 3 years on the implant and it is due to be changed.
When I was on the depo I had no periods at all and my OH thought it was great!!!

this is what scares me having really bad periods!! or not losing the weight i have put on...
we made the decision 6 months ago to start trying for a baby but i must admit i was selfish and said i wanted to go on holiday without the worry or pain of periods. so now 6 months later i should be having my jab tomorrow but wont be
but should i wait till my period comes back before trying?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
why wait til the dreaded beast returns before trying ??
practice makes perfect thats what i say
and at least its a fun activity It only seems kinky the first time.. :A0 -
I was on it for about a year. I too gain a lot of weight. It took 6 months for my periods to appear and a year for them to settle down. I got pregnant about 2 years later and now 5 years after that I'm pregnant again.
So I think things can take a while but settle out in the end for most people.

i went on the depo injection for just over a year before my partner and i decided to come off of it and try to conceive, it took 2 years for my periods to come back and another 10 months before we finally fell pregnant with our little boy. won't ever go back on it though sticking to the trusty pill!!0

oh my god i feel so heart broken. i had my last injection in august and although i was told it could take up to a year i assumed it was worst case senerio and thought "yeah yeah yeah" lol i assumed id have periods by january probably and then we could start in july. after reading your threads im guessing ill be having periods again next aug and then another year or so to conceive. again (being in my own la la land) i thought a month of trying would be enough. obviuosly it could be , but its now seeming it will take alot longer. considering ive been broody the last two months and cant think of anything else, im guessing the next year will be utter hell!!!
does anyone know of a way of turning the broodiness down??

Hi there
I was on the depo for about 3 years...thought it was great.. no periods, no weight gain (well not from that anyway:rotfl: ).... but when i came of it nearly 6 years ago, periods were all over the place.... and after 5 years of trying - still no luck with a baby.... don't imagine thats entirely to blame...but reading this thread..it does make me wonder if it is contributing to the problem...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
