Holiday V work email

My OH has just checked his email after ten days away from the office. He has over 2000 :eek:. Lots are junk and spam and CC but nevertheless the holidays seems like a distant memory!
I managed not to check mine and I switched off my phone for the first time ever, but the stress of not knowing what was happening I think outweighed staying in touch.
I think I prefer to check every day.
What about you? ::)

Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:

It all depends on the job you have. I can check mine but out of principle don't. It doesn't matter because I have no real responsibility. If I was a manager I'd be different.0

I never check mine. Once I'm finished work, I'm finished work!0

Rarely checked emails whilst abroad on holiday, on the basis that I'd have been phoned for anything important. Used to sort and prioritise emails the night before returning to work, mainly so I was in the driving seat rather than just being reactive the next day.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

That was my husbands reckoning. Anything urgent would be by phone. I turned my phone off too!!Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
If I checked my email I'd be tempted to reply or act. So I don't.0

I couldn't check my work email on holiday, I think it would completely kill the holiday spirit. When I'm on holiday the last think I want to think about is my office!0

I checked mine... until I got an email from my boss telling me to stop checking them.0

I don't.
Only because we use Microsoft Outlook for our work emails and they are all set up on our work computers.
Cannot access work email from home. So that saves me.0 -
Work phone gets switched off and stays at home.0

I check mine out of sheer boredom. I'd rather not, but it saves me going through thousands of emails when I get back and it's not like I'm doing anything else. My boss half expects it of me as well, which isn't great as he has a habit of emailing me when I'm on holiday asking questions that could wait till I got back but which he always starts with"I know you're on holiday....but...."
I think I'm going to leave my phone at home next time I'm away. It'll be liberating if nothing else.0
