Europcar - charged me for fuel!

  • Theres some right sad cases on this forum I will say....
Nothing better to do than troll around causing arguments.
  • Anyway, UPDATE.

First off they tried to say that I WAS liable for any fuel used whilst the car is driven back to the depot, which is why I got charged.

I did then point out that this was about the 15th time I'd hired a car off them, and this was the first time I'd been charged. And it was hardly FREE delivery and collection if that was the case.

I also pointed out that they had charged me for enough fuel for 60-70 miles and the depot was 7-8 miles away. Suggested they ask the driver where we went and check what time the fuel was checked.

So they got back me, made a mistake, here's a refund. But no apology or explanation. Yes mistake you made was that "someone" thought they could drive the car around all day and get me to pay for the fuel and I wouldn't notice.

Very poor indeed by Europcar. Makes me wonder how many other people get charged this and don't even notice.

I had no email/no invoice sent just an additional charged on my credit card.

Indeed, but as you hadn't posted for a while we thought that there was currently one less. ;)

AFAIK we have stopped using Europcar, they are getting beyond a joke.

I always take photos of the whole car, all dents & scratches & the dash when a car is delivered, then do the same again before it is collected.
The last hire car I got was from a local company - this being the first hire car ever to have a sat nav built in - I'd rather use them next time - forget Europcar.

Never had a problem with them in the past - this is the first time.

Their attitude this time has been awful though. They just stuck the charge on my card without even telling me or providing an invoice. Even when I argued about they still argued back and only grudgingly paid me back.

    No apology either.
