So where exactly was this spanner that's stayed in place for 3 weeks of motorway driving without you detecting it (via noise or vibration), it falling off or it damaging something

I call 'scare story' from Kwik Fit

Bleed nipple - there was a noise which made me check the tyre plus someone at work had a blowout last week, assumed it because wall was damaged.

    Scare story another possibility

Kwik Fit and selling you something because your in danger if you do not get it done right now this second. Did they say you cannot leave with the item in that condition or you may die on your journey home and they can not be held responsible?

Sadly you are their target customer.

A spanner still attached to the bleed nipple 3 weeks later does not sound like a danger to me. The spanner would not have undone the nut on its own so no danger.

Keep it or take it back and see if they will swap it for a free air freshener.

They were fitting the tyre I requested, so didn't sell me anything extra on the back of this, might just be them making it up but I can't see their direct gain unless as a joke.

Very rare for a tyre to actually blowout. A lot of the time its just a flat, when a tyre has sidewall damage its because the driver didnt spot the flat and kept driving.

The sort of person that gives you the finger and ignores you, when you sound your horn to try and tell them they have a flat tyre.

    Keep the spanner.

You can complain, and get the careless technician sacked, leaving his children with no-one to support them except the state if you like.

He hardly did it deliberately, spanners cost money, and it is his spanner.

Whilst I'll say there are no duties in the UK that are (anywhere near)3 hours too big.
Where do you get the 2 in a van is easier?
The old job n finish duties were miles easier.

Two doing the work of one and a company vehicle instead of their own car or public transport. Do you really need it explained?

But it didn't blow out and if it had it would be down to the damage you caused and nothing to do with the spanner.

2 doing the work of one. You think RM invested in a massive fleet increase and doubled its delivery staff to save costs?

    Let me lay it out.
Before this there was another employee delivering all the oversize packets from a large van (covering multiple routes)
The staff are now doing 2 deliveries (that would be the work of two people) which have increased in size.
Delivery spans average 4 hours for a town duty these days.
They also do the large packets the previously mentioned.
With the recent changes to collections/collection times you now have collections on deliveries too.

If you want to 'explain' it for me, then feel free.
However I think you may find Im slightly better informed than you seem to be.

The technician getting the sack? Come on guys, that's a bit dramatic! He'll get jabbed for being an idiot by managers and technicians alike - whilst the technicians think back to the time they did exactly the same thing or wondering where their own spanner or socket went which they last used last month on Mr SMiths car.
