Ahhh the old "blame the victim for someone else's negligence"
    Classic.

I suppose it must be some compensation if your last thought before oblivion is "oh well, at least I was in the right".

We all make mistakes on the road (well I do, I'm not sure about you and clearly Mr. Uphillfreewheeler is perfect in every way) so we all have a responsibility to be alert and to drive/ride defensively, just as I hope others are doing when I screw something up.

Pretending one is perfect oneself and demanding that others live up to the same unattainable standard is sheer arrogance.

Really? Not from what I saw. The car was past way before the gap ended (considering the cyclist's speed). That was my initial thought when I first watched the video ... why didn't the cyclist pull over to the left lane?

I've no idea if the driver started the overtake before the gap appeared though - that's not clear from the video.
It seemed to me like the driver anticipated the cyclist pulling into the gap of several cars length and the cyclist decided not to.

Stupid thing #1: The driver overtaking without being sure that the cyclist would let them pass.
Stupid thing #2: The cyclist not pulling left to let the car past.

In the end the cyclist had the most to lose...

I saw no mention of blame in that post, just good common-sense advice.

Just as well no one here appears to be doing so.

That will fit nicely on the gravestone.

And how many could've been avoided by a bit of defensive riding on his part?
My reply was in response to claims that he looks for trouble. In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY_5YMYxnm4 controlling the lane would be the only option with regards to defensive driving to prevent an overtake which shouldn't be necessary in this instance.
He's certainly keen on speaking with other road users after incidents but I suspect he would be happier if they didn't happen in the first place.

On the fast downhill clip he's very rational and friendly with the other driver. He's not a youtube vigilante. He just posts incidents which he has filmed along with all the other, unboxing a tv or wiring a plug nonsense that's on there .

Well John,Im sure you have googled that one until your palms got sweaty.
So im sure you are correct. If you wish to go down that road(no pun)
    Then I'll play.
The cyclist got fined. What did Jason Wells get for hitting the cyclist?
    For threatening the cyclist?
    For leaving the scene?

Or shall we go further? Im sure you will run out of examples before I do......
