UUs appear to be on a roll, 2 more gone tonight.

Body shop satsuma body butter 50ml - WBA good stuff, as with all BS butters. Nice consistency and sinks in quickly. Smells lovely too. Think I have a couple stashed but replaced with a sanctuary one for now.

Loreal elseve damage care pro spray - WBA but this was a bargain shop find so doubt I'll find it again, it's this: http://guide.alibaba.com/shop/loreal-elseve-damage-care-pro-ex-quick-oil-hair-repair-treatment-spray_4250248.html
It's a spray you can use in the shower as a conditioner. It did an ok job and gave my hair a bit of extra tlc when it was in really bad condition. Still prefer treatment masks though.

UU #5 - Salon Selectives Protective Conditioner. This was my HG in 2002/03, so probably dated back to then!

Replaced with a part used Pantene Pro-V. Have 2 of these in my opened stash, so have pulled out the 300ml bottle which weighs less than the 200ml - should be quicker to use up and it's a larger bottle so will free up more space ;)

I haven't heard of Salon Selectives for years.

Has anyone seen the dreadful Herbal Essences advert? We are in stiches here when it's on, it says on the screen not to shampoo your eyes as the woman on screen does exactly that, then at the end a really quiet voice says 'go buy our shampoo', the online ads say the same thing too. Does this count as subliminal advertising?

    Welcome obop.

    Welcome obop!

I rarely watch live TV dolly as we have TiVo, but I'm going to have to look out for that advert now! :rotfl:

    I have an unwelcome UU:

9/122. Garnier 2-in-1 eye make-up remover 125ml - WDBA. I bought this on the recommendation of you lot in an attempt to downgrade and, whilst it doesn't quite compare to my beloved Dior, it does the job just fine. I do get some smudging the following morning as it doesn't remove every last trace, but for the price I can live with that. It's also non-oily which I love - take note Lancôme and Clinique!! I will need to replace this soon as I don't have a back-up stashed.

I have a few splutterers so hoping for more progress in the right direction this week. My toiletries stash (exc make-up) is currently at 127 and I would love to get this below 100 by the end of the year. May be easier said than done since a lot of my products are now full-sizes (or worse!) but I will give it a shot. This is massive progress as I was at over 500 at one point.

plumpudding - I agree with the others - unless there is something you want, need and know the cheapest price you can purchase it for non-duty free so that you can compare, I would say avoid the shops altogether. Often the "bargain" can actually be found cheaper online using discount codes etc.

  • I have 3 IN's to confess.

I bought a new touch of silver brightening treatment yesterday evening thinking it might be a good substitute for my Lee Stafford hot shots, I am down to my last one of these and each pack is about 7.50. I saw the Touch of silver was twice the size and a third of the price. Unfortunately I tried it this morning and although it is good it doesn't really compare and I will still be buying my Lee Stafford..so I know that this item will be sitting around looking at me for months to come while i slowly work it into my routine and try to UU it :(

I also picked up 2 of the new Soft and Gentle deodorants, the new compressed ones that are aluminium free. I paid .03p each for these with coupons and I am really impressed with them so happy to have them in my stash as I am down to my last deodorant.

Finally picked up a bottle of clean and clear cleanser - the one with salicylic acid. Wanted to give this a shot as an acid exfoliator to add to my rotation with my others as most of what I use is Glycolic acid.

so 5 IN's so far this month and only 3 UU's....not exactly keeping on track!

As a forum (and thread) newbie, I have a small manifesto -

    1. I will stop watching Lisa Eldridge 'How To' videos and coveting all of the products!
    2. I will take stock of my toiletries and use what I have before buying new!
    3. I will treat myself to a new tube of Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream (the HG of all HGs in my opinion) when I've used all of the products on my bathroom shelves!*

    * I have actually picked up a tube twice this week and then (reverentially) put it back on the shelf. With tears in my eyes .....

    Hello obop!

I only watch Lisa Eldridge now to find things to do with products I already have, it's very rare I see something on there that I don't have a version of in my stash that does the same job! I love her videos though and some of the looks she does are amazing!

    Hi everyone

I'm just going to take a deep breath and check the title of the thread before I ask this.... What do you guys think about purchasing beauty goods in duty free? Are there any real bargains to be had or is it all tricks with different size bottles to the ones we can get on the high street?

I'm asking because I've got a couple of trips coming up where there may well be a chance to buy duty free, and I'm in the market for a few things. I've checked prices on Clarins own website and on ebay for the size I want, so I know how much is too much.
Does anyone know a duty free bargain when they see it? Please share tips - should I start a new thread?

I have had some good sets from duty free in the past but it's now mostly the same as as the high street. The only bonus is if you can come across Mac or bobbi brown and get that cheaper as it rarely is but even then it's only marginal discounts.

Does anyone have a reccomendation for a good natural shampoo without sls in? I used to use Liz Earle and the l'oreal sls free one but they both got to the point where my hair went a bit meh on them both. I switched back to one with sls to try and clean the gunk out but that's now getting to the stage where I've noticed my scalp getting irritated again so after the bottle I'm on I want to go back to an sls free one but I'm not sure which!

I don't watch much live TV either so haven't seen this ad. Did catch the latest ad for the National Lottery the othe night with Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen who doesn't look as if he's aged, wonder what he uses!

Have a UU, GA and 3 INs:-

UUS : sachet of Philosophy Purity cleanser. I have a really prominent black head on my left cheek and remember that this product did a great job of getting rid of milia previously. This product does still make my skin feel tight so wouldn't switch to this.

GA : small tube of L'Occitane hand cream. Was too floral fragranced for me. Gave to my friend although I had already used quite a bit of it. Will dig out a new hand cream for my handbag and home use.

INs - so I bobbed into Wilkes on the way home to get a replacement bottle of Cutex nail polish remover because my bottle has ver little in it. They don't sell this anymore np but I came out with:-

Real Techniques copy concealer brush. I am now prising my concealer from around the rim of the pot. Don't really want to have to replace this before my hols because I want to try the Nyx one. Will see hi long I can eek this out for.

Travel spray bottle to decant toner into for hols.

Skin make up remover. My Garnier Micellar water is nearly UU.

Have repainted my nails with OPI Sorry I'm fizzy today.

evilsquid - I can't really help with the shampoo, the only sls free one I've tried is the L'oreal one.

    I have some uu's

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath Oil 7.5ml - not my favourite one and on the whole I am over my obsession with these although I still have a lot to use and do really enjoy using them.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy - 20ml - WBA, I love C&E products and have been using the hand creams on and off for years, I especially love the Gardeners one.

L'occitane Verbena Body Lotion 30ml - This is lovely but I would only buy on an amazing deal.

Still only 1 in for August - yay.
