There should be at least one or two places about your area that can do a quote for repairing it/ confirm its beyond economical repair.
Thank you. Its just that i was holiday and I am not sure i did the correct things like leave it for 48hrs etc, dont switch it on etc. There is a small computer shop that might be able help. I called in today but the owner was out. Might try again.0 -
TBH if you can only claim £100 per item. And the excess is £120, you're only going to get £180 back as a maximum. Factor in cost of fuel to get to those places, and potential costs for them to give you the report you need, probably isn't really worth claiming.0

That's what I am thinking. When I enquired they just said all I needed was proof of purchase and pic of each item. Then a month later I get an email saying they need all sorts of other things. If they had said this when I first asked I probably wouldn't have bothered as it took me a few weeks to find the receipts particularly the iPhone which is 4 years old and was my husbands phone.0 -

Hopefully they would apply the excess then the single article limit - so it would be £300.0 -

Would they do that. I was expecting £180 max too, tbh the camera new was only £70 so I was hoping for about £120 any more and it would be a bonus. But that was before I realised they wanted all this other stuff0 -
How much are you claiming for each? Is it new for old or indemnity?0

So, put a number on each ...0 -

A good insurer would apply the excess first so say you lost 3 items at £400, £100 and £100 - loss is £600 less £120 excess therefore £480 but single item limit of £100 - settlement is £300.
If the excess was applied last you could never claim for one item and would only get £80 for 2.0
