Got iPhone wet on holiday. Need proof of damage

Hi
I got my iPhone, digital camera and hudl wet on holiday when my bag got wet. I have sent my proof of purchases to my insurer. They want cost of repair or proof that they are beyond repair.
Not sure where or who I should contact to help me with this. I presumed that when wet that's it they are broken. Who is going to want to waste time looking at the option of repairing them. Do I need go to a phone shop for the iPhone then a camera shop for my digital camera and then a computer shop about the Hudl.
Do each of these places have to declare that repair isn't worth it.
I bought the iPhone from Apple online 4 years ago, the camera from Asda, and the hudl from tesco.

I need to pay excess of £120 and can only claim up to £100 per item. Feel like it's a lot of hard work with no guarantee of getting anything.
Thanks

Oh they are broken, very much so. Sorry. I didn't even think about repair, it's just the insurance want me to investigate.
I put them in a bag of rice for 24hrs and nothing. I had to get reception to write down "please can I have some dry rice " from the kitchen. But I think the wet bag and the heat just didn't agree with them

Take the iphone to an apple shop, they will be able to see that the phone is wet and give you a report.

Thanks, I just wish there was a apple shop nearer, I think it's 40 miles away. Which is why I am starting to wonder if it is worth all the time and hassle. I wondered if somewhere like car phone warehouse could help. They are a bit nearer. I suppose I need to make a few phone calls first

There is a way of seeing if the water damage indicators are showing on an iphone. https://www.gazelle.com/how-to/iphone/water-damage

You would need to obtain a 'report' for each item. Usually just a letter on headed paper saying the repair costs, or that it's beyond repair will suffice.

If you go to Apple, make sure they put that the handset is beyond repair, they have a habit of not writing that on them. You don't necessarily need to go to Apple though. Insurance in on a repair then replace basis.

Some places may charge for a 'report' as well, which I'm betting your insurer won't cover.

Fair point. Time and petrol and costs to get these reports and then £120 excess, not feeling too hopeful about it tbh. Maybe I should give it up now.

If you can only claim a maximum of £100 I probably wouldn't bother If you could get the full New-for-old price back (ie more like £500-800) then sure, but it's probably not worth the hassle for £100

I presumed that when wet that's it they are broken.

Not at all, wife's dropped a couple of her iPhones into the toilet/bath/sink several times and all have survived fine after spending a few days drying out.

There should be at least one or two places about your area that can do a quote for repairing it/ confirm its beyond economical repair.
