Travel insurance for teenager

Options
I was certain there was a recent thread with that same title, but gone back 6 pages and can't see it! Sorry if repeating the same question.

DD is going to France with a friend of hers and her parents. We will then be going away to Italy as a family a few weeks later. I therefore was planning on buying annual cover for the whole family as that comes out as about the same price than individual trips. The question is, if I do that and put myself as the main holder of the policy, would DD be covered travelling without me?

It's ridiculous that one single trip for her alone is the same price than three of us for the whole year!!

Can't answer your question, but I'm pretty sure that the thread you're talking about was in DT, which is why you haven't found it on here.

I've just renewed our annual travel insurance and looked at this question. Quite a few have conditions like travelling with school or college groups are covered, or must travel with an adult. I found that one company who would cover this unaccompanied situation were TopDog. I'm not recommending them, although I have no reason not to, you must make you mind up whether it's right for you. Always read a copy of the policy before making your mind up to purchase.

Most family policies cover the individuals if they are travelling separately, but check the wording. Some policies only cover the adults for travelling alone, and dependent children would only be covered if travelling with one of the named adults on the policy. Sounds like you need a policy that covers the children travelling separately as well.

Yes I think that was the one thank you. I think I'll give it a try but if taking too long to find I'll go for the individual policy for the week it is indeed not that expensive.

Have a look at PJ Haymen, their annual travel includes children travelling independently.

The cover is very very good as well
