i have tried AdwCleaner - problem not fixed
For FF one solution was altering settings - see this post

My firefox had the same problem & time clock was fine too. This is (Below) what worked. On firefox click settings (Three small lines below red X, top right corner) then click OPTIONS > click Advanced, click Network. Click settings & choose "Auto-detect proxy setting for this network. Click OK & OK again. Restart firefox & try to search google or yahoo. Hopefully it would work now.0 -
thanks for the help , but still having same problems after following your instructions. however i could only click on OK once but it did not appear againNice to save.0
