  • When you run a scan ie Malwarebytes etc it's best to do in safemode. I say this because of my own experience. The latter picked up 2 nasties in safemode which it didn't in windows. Also turn off your router for a minute or so to reset.

this is the actual address in bar
    https://secure.tesco.com/direct/my/register.page

i will run malwarebytes now and see if it rectifies problem although i do have avast

I just tried that site and it loaded ok, but a moment later Kaspersky popped up and said something about a certificate error.

I chose the Kaspersky option to ' disconnect'.

Looking at Kaspersky log it says 'SSL connection with invalid certificate detected'.

However now I can load that site and no messages pop up from Kapersky.

    ^
mine shows the same info. So why Kaspersky showed it as invalid initially is weird. Kaspersky log does not show website address but that was only page I was loading at time.

Probably a false positive with Kaspersky.

? Have you tried IE .... It may be that the Windows root certificates are out of date .

If you click on the show details about the certificate what does it show

On my Linux FF it says valid from June 2015

i have tried IE but it doesn't give my the option of 'show details about the certificate'

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

    This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to cap.attempts.securecode.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

cap.attempts.securecode.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates.
An additional root certificate may need to be imported.

    (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

even get problems with google as well as tesco and some other sites
    Nice to save.

I suspect you may have a certificate problem possibly caused by adware which has had it's certificate revoked. Try this guide to see if anything turns up:

I've done a bit of googling for you

A couple of posts said solved their problem by running AdwCleaner

For FF one solution was altering settings - see this post
