I assume that I now don't need to do what you suggested in the PM? I will just follow instructions in the link above.

You can do both. Always good to have more than one option.

Never will I update to Windows 8 until W8 becomes good enough.

I think it is unlikely to change in the future!

In that case I will stay with W7:)
This is not quite true....Please do a bit more research than relying on that statement. Then if you still decide not to install it, fair enough...;)

Nope, definitely nope. When it comes to windows update, you can not be too cautious since a new thing doesn't mean a good one. Never will I update to Windows 8 until W8 becomes good enough.
Think you missed the boat there.....:D

I started the process to create these discs. W7 asked me to wait until it completed a splitting process. It got to 75% and then said that it had detected a CD creation problem and stopped the process. Could that have just been because I hadn't yet put a CD in the drive? I had assumed that this would be the next instruction. It has terminated the process. I am using DVD + R discs

disk in drive before you start....or maybe the cd drive and/or burning software doesn't like +R format disks..

W8.1 was fine if you made the effort to work with/Learn the differences. The main limitations of the system were operator generated IMO.
Still, the argument is now mute as the future is here and it works well and has some nice additions to older systems.
To the OP. There is nothing to be scared of. Give it a go, you can always revert back to the dark ages if you still don't like it. At least you will know why you don't.;)

Alright, perhaps I need to move forward. Hope no update failure would happen:rotfl:. Thx Rum:beer:

So absolutely nothing to do with Steven Sinofsky (the fall guy) being responsible for the worst and most illogical fisher pricesque GUI in ergonomic history ?
