How do you make a collage into a car park?
Join lots of bits of tarmac together in a random and pleasing pattern!

Who should I address too? Insurers or the collage
Since you do not have an agreement with the insurers, you would have to address your LBA to the College

I operate a strummer amongst other tools as a profession and the first thing were taught is not to strip within 15 metres of anyone or anything that could be damaged, clearly stated on a stammer and the operators hand book.then there's also risk assesments should be carried out prior to works. This would have covered all points stated above and would have shown it is not safe to continue work.
    whats a strummer?
i like to strip in the closet :)
whats a stammer, is that a strummer with a speech impediment?

maybe not safe in your eyes, but look at it this way, do we stop traffic for a road sweeper, should the grass cutter have got all cars removed and closed the place till he was done?
easiest solution next time don't park near the grass, also don't park next to the buildings in case the window cleaner falls of his ladder and lands on your car. loads of variables to consider if you were in charge i doubt very much work get done toooo risky...........also i think your old insurance company will tell you to bog off its not their concern now.

I've actually changed insurer at the beginning of the week due to renewal, it's was sure thing, guess it's too late now.

Did you tell your new insurers of the incident?

OP maybe you setup a savings account and transfer x amount a month to pay for something like a windscreen in future, maybe ask your insurer to add the windscreen option.

Why have you waited 8 weeks without contacting your original insurers? That's what you pay your premiums for. They would have repaired the vehicle and pursued a case against the third party.

ok little update, seems a letter I sent this week threatening action through small claims court has done the trick.
I got contacted today by the head of claims of the public liability insurers acting on behalf of the collage, he apologised that it had taken so long and that it should have been sorted sooner espically as the collage admitted to them early on that the strimmer operator had failed
To carry out a risk assessment before starting work and an ongoing assessment of Hazards that may change during work.
They have admitted liability and given the green light to proceed with the repairs for which they will pay
    So that's a result !
Just goes to show that what I did was correct despite what some may say.

What you did was not correct.

For just one example, re-read post #4.

That's good new, but as it's going through their insurance I hope you've told your new insurance company. We'd hate to see your policy cancelled.
