Damaged car by worker

My car got damaged at a local collage car park,
the worker there was cutting grass and my car was parked in a parking bay,no sign of anyone working nearby when I arrived no sign or cones etc
When I returned to my car i notice grass all over it and on closer inspection the front bumper badly chipped and windscreen cracked, new windscreen required total quote touching £900 to have it repaired my m.o.t is due end of August and garage has said car will not pass m.o.t due to size and location of crack .
This happened end of May, I immediately put a compliant in against the collage they passed it to their public liability insurers, I've contacted 3 times since first hearing from them asking when they will let me know the outcome and every time they say they are still investigating.
I'm a bit worried now as the m.o.t is fast approaching I cannot be without a car or can I afford to have it repaired and try claim it back.
Where do I stand? Should they have made their decision by now ?
What can I do to hurry them along ?
Thanks

Who should I address too? Insurers or the collage0

If your car is unroadworthy now, perhaps you shouldn't be waiting for the MOT test to tell you so.0

hmm your right.. Only reason is I couldn't afford to hire a car immediately and until this gets settled, I really didn't think it would take so long0

Wont your insurance cover a new windscreen??0

a chipped bumper is not an mot failure, a cracked windscreen is and if the crack is that bad you should not be driving it anyway in case it implodes into your mush.
do you not have windscreen cover on your insurance, most policys have this on them where you just pay a small sum and its replaced.
no signs have to be placed when a grass cutter or other worker is working on site you will see most carparks have signs that state cars left at owners risk.0 -
I'm not really prepared to have my own insurance payout I have enquired and as the garage says due to size and location in zone a of windscreen then it cannot be repaired,so new screen my insurance only covers chip repair.
Plus there's the fact of the bumper damage all down to someone negligence.
I operate a strummer amongst other tools as a profession and the first thing were taught is not to strip within 15 metres of anyone or anything that could be damaged, clearly stated on a stammer and the operators hand book.then there's also risk assesments should be carried out prior to works. This would have covered all points stated above and would have shown it is not safe to continue work.
There are no signs in the car park stating cars left at owner risk etc .0 -
I've actually changed insurer at the beginning of the week due to renewal, it's was sure thing, guess it's too late now.0
