Break something in a shop where there is a notice saying 'all breakage's must be paid for'? You may not have to pay if you can prove that the shelves were poorly stacked, or the item was sticking out, or if there were other circumstances whereby it was not your negligence that caused the breakage.
Handy tip - tg its never happend to me (yet!)It's better to travel hopefully than arrive...0 -
I've got to point out the old one (someone cleverer can give the post reference!) but it went somewhere along the line of ringing sky (if you subscribe that is!) and explaining that you are re-addressing your financial position and feel that knocking sky on the head for a while may well help you get back on track. After pushing the point that you really don't know how the family will cope without it, but it is just gonna have to be done, and pulling a couple of other heart strings! They normally shall offer you an alternative of staying with them, but only paying half price rental for the next three months!!!!
It took me 20 minutes to break my man, but I finally got there and it saved me £63.00!
HERE'S THE BEST BIT!!
Last week I got a phone call from their customer services to see how I was coping now(3 months on). I explained that I was still having it bad but I reckon I will cope now, although if there was any way they could assist me further I would appreciate it! to which I was offered two more months at half price!!!
IF SOMEONE CAN LET ME KNOW ANOTHER COMPANY THAT RINGS YOU TO REDUCE YOUR SPEND WITH THEM.....PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! :jClick COLOR=Red]HERE[/COLOR to participate in my latest finger exercise program!!0 -

bigsquirrel wrote:'GAME' have now introduced this system where they can only give prices for preowned games that are on their computer systems. No deals can be done and the price on the system is final and cannot be altered. Some games do not even appear on there now as they have no or little value to their company. This was more than likely introduced as the staff could abuse the old system and would give the customer less for certain games and dvd's so that they would be able to get them cheap for themselves.
Many 'GAME' shops do not have a good preowned prices for football and wrestling games when you offer to trade them in and this is purely because they have so many.
i used to work for GAME. They have recently implemented the new system which only allows them to gived fixed prices for pre owned games...RIP OFF!!! However, they do have a 10-day no quibble money back policy. This means you can test any game for 10 days and take it back, swop it or just take your cash and run.....FREE RENTAL!!!0 -
OK, so if you are going there and looking at carpets, fitted with bits and bobs etc, check the reverse of the sample, they all have six digit codes. If its a 7 code(begins with 7) it is a stock item, therefore more fruitful for the salesperson and the company, therefore more scope for bargaining on discounts. 9 codes(beginning in 9) are special order with less margin.
Also all remnants should be coded at the bottom of the tickets with simply the date, ie: 230505 this is the date the remnant was made, so old stock can normally be haggled on, but be sure to speak to a manager as a lot of staff won't be aware of this simple id code for age. However please note this does not happen in all stores, depends on how well they are ran.
Also on the remnants the code of the carpet should be on the ticket, ie: a six digit code beginning in a 7 or a 9. Be sure to ask to see the range on the shopfloor, as offers change seasonally with ranges and stores rarely change the price tickets on the rems. This could result in also getting a free fitting service or further reductions(but not always!). Be aware if a carpet remnant code begins with an 8 then this is old roll stock.
The trick with this company comes into spend amount, if your sale is approx £400 (but could easily be less) and above you have a pretty good angle for discounts, regardless of even if the carpet/other flooring is advertised at 25%off & free fitting or 50% off etc etc etc. These deals are just ways of pricing merchandise and all fitting costs etc etc are built into the deal, think DFS, and the other large carpet retailers etc. Its all unfortunately legal aslong as goods have sold for 28 days at higher prices!!! You should aim for between an extra 10 to 15% off the whole price, especially if you are buying stock coded items. If they don't, then just sit tight, tell them you are getting another quote from a competitor. Give it 3 to 6 days and you will have the salesperson on the phone with a new price.
Worked for this company for a couple of years, thoroughly recommend them, there customer service is second to none, there fitting service is guaranteed by the company as well as the products and they are the only major retailer that offer a no quibble 12 month guarantee on pile reversal for carpets. But always stick by your guns and expect a further 10% atleast of that bill total.0 -
Whenever my car suffers a puncture, I always head straight to the nearest Kwik-Fit branch. They've repaired at least half a dozen for me for free over the years - I believe it's company policy. It's a year or two since I've done this, so I can't guarantee it still works, but it's worth asking.
If the tyre's unrepairable then they try to sell you a new one, of course, but you don't have to take it. On one occasion I did - but only because I'd persuaded them to price-match a cheaper supplier down the road.

Lucie wrote:No "insider info" to share, but I have learnt that most tele-sales (insurance etc) have a discretionary % discount which they are allowed to offer. Usually 10%. They will never offer you this discount unless you ask for a better price. So the next time you get a quote for car/home/whatever insurance over the phone, just ask if that's the best price they can do or are they able to reduce it slightly?
If you don't ask you don't get.............
I know this is a bit of an old quote - but i got a car insurance quote from admiral car insurance with about £15 after my 10 month bonus accelerator with my first 1 year no claims, and i rang em up and said thats stupid! What was the point in doing this to save £15, so they nocked it down to £60 off0 -
I've just asked and got a definite no! Direct Line won't even do a price matching and can do nothing for me as I'm 'only' third party, fire and theft.
It would be a bit stupid of me getting fully comp when my car is only worth £400!
So I will be switching and thanks to Confused.com for saving me £40Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
With some insurance companies inc Direct Line, if your going away for a long time, or your car is off the road, as long as your car is kept in a locked garage and not driven on the public highway, you can ask them to insure the car for 'Fire & Theft' only (you must already have the car insured with them already), this can safe you loads of money.0

kobi wrote:I recently changed car breakdown cover from AA to AutoAid (due to the article elsewhere on this web site). However, while closing the AA account the phonesales person was willing to cut the cost from ~£150 to £75 for the year!
Just phoned up to redo my RAC and asked is that is the cheapest price. I was told if i paid with my credit card it would be cheaper (£8 in all.) Funny because it did not say that on the form! Proves if you just askJenny
