wedding car or walk?

I went to a wedding in a village in France and the whole wedding party followed the bride and groom from the Mairie (civil part of ceremony) to the church and then to the reception in procession round the village. It was delightful.0

We also walked to our wedding. My husband left the house first with his Best Man and then me, my Mum and sister walked down afterwards. All the neighbours were waving as we walked past.
We had a very small, budget wedding so paying for a car to go a very short distance would have been silly.
Also, maybe I am wrong, but I thought that in Scotland it is traditional to walk to the wedding. Does anyone know if people still do this?0 -
Friends of ours in Switzerland walked to their wedding along the farm track and up into a small village. The whole village knew she was pregnant and instead of flags the street was criss-crossed with bunting made up of nappies, baby clothes, a couple of potties and other baby things! And that was 30+ years ago! The photos looked great and very relaxed.0

Weird - I was on a bus going over Tower Bridge the other night and saw a Chinese bride walking along it in full get-up!
Yep, sounds like a 'tradition' now then! Hadn't heard of it until I read your post!

As the wedding photographer years ago, I photographed father and Bride walking through village from home to church.
As for a bus, only two weeks ago I saw a red double decker drive pass with white ribbons.0 -
I'm getting a taxi to my venue lol. I can't justify spending almost £200 on a car I'll be in for 10 mins x:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0

My sister had a wedding car for her wedding. I thought it was a bit daft as she was marrying the vicar's son and the church was a two minute walk away.0

I think walking is a wonderful idea, and it will definitely give the neighbours something to talk about!
Our venue is about half an hours drive away and we will be getting ready in the rooms about it. I really couldn't justify the cost of a wedding car and I won't be dressed when I arrive anyway, so I am planning on driving myself and my bridesmaids over to the venue in my little Mini :rotf:0 -

I did read something a while back about the Chinese having 'wedding' photos taken in photogenic locations, the chances are you saw just the couple and their photographer(s). It probably wasn't even their wedding day or the dress to be used for the actual wedding hence the lack of concern at it dragging through the dirt. They just want some nice wedding photos! We saw several Chinese couples in Vancouver doing this.Make £2026 in 2026
