Simplicity from O2
What does everyone think of the new sim only deals from O2?
I am concerened that those of us that change to simplicity from a 12/18 month contract will lose our bargaining power with retentions and will be forced to choose a bog standard tariff if O2 decide to change the simplicity deal in the next few months.
It is only a month to month contract therefore O2 could change the tariff at anytime.
What does everybody else think?
I am about to change to a simplicity deal from a discount 500 contract.

In my previous experience O2 have changed terms and conditions during contracts.
In the early days I was offered unlimited texts, this was then limited to a maximum number.
I am sure somewhere in their terms and conditions they will have licence to do what they want.0 -
I've been thinking about this for OH as T Mobile aren't offering too much in the way of contract renewal options (upgrade to a new phone....the model you already have lol - genuinely!) and their signal's lousy. However, am I wrong in thinking that their Europe cheaper calls/texts bolt ons have got more expensive since the advent of Simplicity?
Plus is it true that Simplicity tariffs are charged by the minute?0 -
Simplicity tariffs are billed by the minute.
I have just changed to a simplicity tariff - £25 per month
600 mins x net
1000 texts
unlimited calls sat, sun and mon till midnight
They said that the tariff would not change until I wanted to change to another tariff.0 -
I guess Simplicity is what I should go for - we discussed Discount 500 yesterday, I too was offered £100 credit. I also need another contract for my daughter but she wants a new phone - need to make a decision by 25 August. Vodafone came up with nothing of any interest so I guess will stick with 02.0

They I believe are trying to be slightly different from the operators and offer a lot of call/texts for a low price and no commitment.
However, O2 regularly change the goalposts (Imode is no more- great when you've got an Imode RAZR like myself), so it wouldn't surprise me that they are going to change the deal when they want.0 -
I'm on simplicity, just found out that because I took the online double texts option (brought through website) I can't access customer services as normal. I have to call 0870 RIPOFF. There's nothing on say no to 0870 either. I'm assuming 0870 isn't included in free minutes either? Anyone know?
Anyone know how to check how many free minutes/texts you have on o2 contracts? Preferably without calling 0870 whatever.
Also, I have credit on my old Orange Paygo that I'm still waiting for the number to be ported from. Do Orange send out a cheque for the remaining balance or do you have to transfer it to another Orange SIM if you want to use it up?0 -

Try calling them from your O2 handset. I think the number is 202 for free. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0 -
For the record, it's not possible to call customer services from your handset for free if you have an online simplicity deal from the o2 website. All the contract CS numbers refer you to 0870, including 202. 0870 and 0800 are 20p/min.
Buy instore with half texts and you get CS for free.
Of course you can still call from a landline with the online tarrif, it's just a bit inconveniant.0 -
Sign up to 18185.co.uk and then you can call an 0870 number from your mobile number for just 3p a minute, 1p a minute at weekends. You will dial in on the access number 0208 180 2828 and these will come out your inclusive minutes.0

Customer service calls from your mobile are free whether you got it online or in the store.
Also eljmayes, i mode should still be available to you as a service, its just that no more phones are being produced with the imode service and will be phased out by 2009.
With the simplicity you can also choose to have o2-o2 unlimited all the time (and pay for your calls/texts to other operators) or have your calls or texts over the long weekend free. Could be useful if you have a lot of friends/family on o2.
Hope this helps.
Edit: forgot to add, the European calls are not getting higher they are getting cheaper, they are cheaper than the Government has set them at which is coming in in Sep and all providers will have to lower their costs, o2 already do that with My europe which is free.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0
