Contact the broker. Sounds like he/she is still working on it?

We're contacting Halifax direct, that way we get our answer and then wait and see how long it takes the broker to actually tell us, as last time they waited until 17:00hrs last Friday and sent an email, then ignored everything until we called them Monday.

    They are beyond useless.

Contacted Halifax and the appeal only went to the underwriters yesterday so we won't hear anything until Friday.

Don't think we'll get this house and will end up waiting another three years for something suitable to come on the market.

Broker sounds a ££%2, buy you need to make a decision and help yourself looking forward

You should really have binned him off last week and got someone sensible on it then.

No idea why you got a KFI from Halifax either.

We work full time and can't just take random days off to sort things out really, so was hoping for the best with regards to the appeal letter, but we'll know for sure tomorrow.

Having more than one application running can do more harm then good apparently so waiting an extra week on this already drawn out timescale was the least of our worries.

If we don't get an answer tomorrow I'm going to compile a PDF document on Saturday/Sunday, of all my docs and all my partners docs going back 6 months ready to email to another broker, so that they can at least get the ball rolling before the originals arrive with them, and hopefully see a vast improvement over the 'service' we've already been subjected to.

Just so you have realistic expectations, I would be very surprised if Halifax accept the appeal and overturn the decision.

Having multiple applications for no good reason is unproductive, in this situation it would have saved you a week to ten days and would be welcome if and when Halifax decline.

Genuinely hope I am wrong and you can full steam ahead with Halifax.

  • Halifax typically only require one months payslips if the client doesn't have any overtime/commission to evidence.

Not saying the broker is any good, but they are correct in saying not to provide the lender with more info than required.

The broker is providing the advise, not Halifax so unless you change brokers I would suggest talking to him/her face to face.

Yes, loads of brokers just submit business to Halifax. Always ask for justification for the recommendation as good sign of lazibrokeritus!

My suggestion - Gather you docs together and speak to a different broker, plenty on here who have already commented.

Partner is paid via cheque so they require more, in order to prove that the money is actually going to who it says it is.

And broker won't speak to us anymore so we've given up trying tbh.
Reason for contacting Halifax direct is to get an answer from them then wait and see how long it takes the broker to tell us.

His justification was due to the rates offered, when we questioned it, expecting higher rates due to the default, he just said 'it's fine, I've already spoken to them and their ok with it'

    We didn't know any better.
