Sat/Sun 25th/26th June - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing This Weekend?

Hi All
Back home again after my 2nd shift. Made £5.50 in tips today. Plus was treated to a delicious salami, black olive and Mozarella toastie and a couple of coffees whilst working. Must be about £14 up on the day all in. Took my tips to Mr T and bought a chicken, a bag of YS kale, & 2 YS lamb grill steaks for tommorow tea. Then uploaded my reciept to Checkoutsmart to get the 1p credit and entry to the £100 prize draw. Someone's got to win right
Have given £50 to OH as spending money for their 3 days away so still £40 to decide what to do with.
Thank you Hannah, I am going to sleep on it. Do feel very dozy now I'm back.
Dawn - a split does sound appealing but I don't really know what we need at the moment on the family front. Our new smart TV bought back in Feb was our big treat lately and I wouldn't have dreamed of that unless the old flat screen had literally died. Will have a think.
Determined - Thank you too. Don't be too hard on yourself about not learning ninja saving skills till recently though. We all have to start somewhere and if you weren't raised that way....I suppose it's that classic saying about the rest of your life staring tommorow...
JoJo -nice tips! How long till your holiday now?
Foxgloves - Glad the garden is still giving plenty of goodies despite the rain.
Maria - Sounds a productive day. Well done on your shopping budget.
Today was my 20th NSD this month. Tips don't count

Bob 3 Just 3 weeks to go. May not even have to open the seal jar as I got a £80 win on the bonus ball at work, so looks like ill have enough spends. After the holiday I want to start my driving lessons again so that may well go towards a car, as I want to get something cash not finance xDebt Free Since 05/09/2015Breath out the past, breath in the future Big Dreams Start Small0

Quick tidy and emptied bins - I re-use carrier bags for the small bins in the bathrooms too Ally, though I don't bother to wash them first...
Baked a quiche shell. I will fill it with leftovers from the fridge and some of my egg mountain, and it will be nice for lunches for a few days (it is a big one)
I only wash them where they get yucky.
Quiche...that gives me ideas...might make crustless quiche tomorrow we have a zillion eggs.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

That is amazing! 3 weeks will go quickly too I bet. Driving lessons are not cheap are they. I think I was paying £20 per lesson back in 2003. Have you got a good cheap option lined up yet?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

DawnW - Re Toluna prize draws. I haven't won any cash or big points prizes either, but I did win a '4th tier' prize in one of their past draws a few years ago. I perused the prizes available at that level & the only one I fancied was a bouquet of flowers, so I claimed that & later took delivery of a big box of pink roses.
DNMS - Re your comments about coming late to money saving skills.....I have always been able to sew, knit (useful for gifts), make do & mend, & cook extremely economically. I just chose not to use these skills because I preferred spending money, including money I hadn't got & which belonged to the bank. I kept a journal for years (during the spendy years), & it's quite interesting reading through random entries. One day's entry can read something like 'Am really worried about money. I've GOT to get a grip. I'm not going to make it through to pay-day. I'm going to be really ultra-careful for the rest of this month'. So there would follow a day where I was obviously eating from stores, batch-cooking veggie bolognese, etc, then I found a next day's entry which read 'Had breakfast in town, met so & so for lunch, Clinique had an offer on so I ended up spending £80, bought trousers & top, popped in M&S for treats for dinner, as didn't fancy what I've got in'. To me now as someone who is determined to carry on living within our means, this is just such shocking stuff. So, I suppose what I'm saying, is that you probably would have used your money saving skills if you'd had them especially if you were bringing up small children, but I had a good grounding in these skills........& chose NOT to use them. When I think of the money mr f & I could have saved had we not been such fritterers, both before & after we got together, but it doesn't do to keep 'what iffing' about the past does it......all we can do is move forward & hope we manage to make a decent job of our lives as they now are.
Thought of you the other day....I know you like sewing & have a Tiny. I saw in a craft magazine a really cute sun dress for a very little girl made out of a pillow case!! It was a pretty one, sort of gathered at the top, then ribbons put in for shoulder straps. Sounds crazy how I'm explaining it, but it looked so pretty. It certainly didn't look like a pillow case, anyway!!

[Just popping in late as we've been away for the weekend. Was lovely and tried very hard to be MSE with vouchers for any spends we needed, so all good. Will post properly this week
Determined what size is your DGD? Have you been to an NCT nearly new sale near you? I have loads of my little ones things from there and many excellent quality things for brilliant prices. Most areas only have 2 a year but if you check their website there may be more than one area near you that you could visit. You could also sell stuff she has grown out of to make some pennies back. You prove it up and drop off so no haggling like at at car boot 😀

Ive got a driving Instructor lined up, although he's not cheap. but I trust him and hes really good. My confidence will be my issue and I think he'll be able to build up on it. Lessons are quite expensive but the plan is I get my provisional and jump straight into once im back off of holiday s (I will be deing of the debt free then and have a extra min amount of £330 a month ive been paying off the debt) So I want to put it to good use while im not missing it. xDebt Free Since 05/09/2015Breath out the past, breath in the future Big Dreams Start Small0 -
