Sat/Sun 25th/26th June - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing This Weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning DFW-Weekend-Warriors,I'm up early to go for a free ParkRun (Link) and then I'll start working on the list which will grow as the day goes on.
My plan to stay really busy yesterday with DFW-style things worked. I slept like a log, the best I've done for about a month, actually.
Nillionaire Month Two:
:grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.
:grinheart Continue de-cluttering and cleaning the kitchen. There is treasure to be found in there!
:grinheart List OH's derelict desktop PC on eBay.
:grinheart Breakfast before running will be 12p noodles and soy sauce. Usually I sprinkle on peanuts but I won't be doing that today; not after yesterday's tooth-damaging debacle.
:grinheart The sun's going to shine, for a change, so OH and I should probably get out the house and enjoy it.
:grinheart Do iSay surveys.
:grinheart Going to try baking brioche couronne from the bread book I borrowed from the library. I've never made this type of bread before. Going to stuff it with salami and cheese. OH is very careful to get the most out of our salami. We buy it bi-monthly and OH cuts it into thin slices with a meat slicer and bags it up into portions for the freezer. It lasts for ages that way.
:grinheart Today's DVD from the cupboard is "127 hours". Hoping it will inspire me, the man's in a tight fix but he gets out of it. (Not a great movie the faint-hearted!)
:grinheart Check Quidco.
:grinheart Make a financial plan for August. I haven't done this yet as it's going to be a real brain-buster.
More later...
Good luck with your Devotions, Divas.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Ally- that bread sounds absolutely gorgeous!
Well I'm having coffee and a bacon sarnie before I go and do my first shift at the other cafe this weekend. The calm before the storm.
Have left supplies and instructions to make either shepards pie or spag bol for our dinner to OH.
Tidied the kitchen, cleared DW and hung out the clothes from the washing machine. So won't have that to come back to.
OH is taking DS to a free Small Furries workshop at the local Pets at Home. You can book if you are a member of their loyalty programme. They also send you pet related coupons which is nice.
Should be a NSD have almost hit my target of 20 for the month. Will get coffee and lunch for free as part of my shift.
Edited to say - if you don't already use Checkoutsmart then worth downloading the app this weekend. You can get free milk (1 pint) containers from Mr T and they will credit you the full amount straight back. The same for Kingsmill loaves. I thought as pretty much everyone uses milk I'd flag that up.
They also have 50p cashback if you have a hot drink in Mr T cafe.
Right have a good day all.

Morning guys and thanks for starting the thread ally!
Yesterday I took dgd to get her feet measured. How inconsiderate of her she has gone up a shoe size! Bought a pair of trainers in Clarks which my brother has given me £20 for her birthday, so cost to us £10 and then bought a pair of shoes off of ebay for £10. Now have a dilemma as her sandles are right on the edge of being too smallher toes aren't hanging over but if she grows anymore... Now don't know where to just make do with trainers and shoes? Seems a waste to buy another pair for what probably is going to only be a month's wear...
small plans for the day:
* cancelled amazon unlimited - they don't make it easy!
* checked cc balance
* write down purchases yestrday for dgd (which will come out of cb)
* sausages & bread rolls out of freezer as we are going to a BBQ on the beach today
* disposable BBQ from home, found when looking through the shed :T. Think might be able to make this a free day despite going to a party :T
* make batch of spaghetti bol as didn't make it yesterday. Will freeze in portions
* quick tidy round of house
* going to meet bff and godson for an hour's play at lunchtime. Totally got my times wrong! Thought beach party started at 4 but checked this morning & it's 12! Will just have a short catch up with bff
* park in free parking and walk to town
* all meals from stores
* possibly start job application tonight...
Think that's all I need to do. Have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning Comrades,
In the middle of a money-saving task, but have just stopped to squeeze in an extra cafetiere, so thought I'd have a quick chat to my fellow frugalistas. Slept MUCH better for not fretting about the dentist. Ally - I am also avoiding peanuts! That sodding peanut will have cost me over £200 to fix the broken tooth, grrr.
OK, today's money saving things:
*Well first thing first, it's an NSD. Poor mr f has to work all weekend, so that means no car for me, so virtually no likelihood of a sneaky little unplanned spend.
*Washed a big load of towels & household stuff overnight on Economy 7. All blowing dry on the line for free.
*Watered greenhouse veggies & outside tomatoes & courgettes. Everything else was looking ok after last night's rain.
*Got all the spices out for tonight's dinner. I'm making Madhur Jaffrey's whole Indian-spiced chicken. I shall get some nice 'rubber chicken' meals out of this too, as it's lovely cold, in sandwiches, in pilaffs & various other dishes. One of the things I love about having a well-stocked store cupboard for things like spices is that this sort of tasty recipe can be made without having to buy lots of ingredients. Shall make garlic rice to go with it, which is an excellent 'fakeaway' type of recipe. mr f can often talk himself out of a takeaway if I mention that I might make garlic rice :-)
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks - have started this but will probably wait for the spicy chicken to do sandwiches.
*Turned out top section of freezer where all my odds & sods get stored to see exactly what's in there. Still got a huge bag of jalapeno chillies from last year, so glad I've mostly grown a different (hotter) variety this year. Lots of home made fish stock & ham jelly stock so that's pointing towards making some fish pies & lentil soups before too long.
*Still doing 'Use it up' - Currently using the last third of a lipstick by getting it out with a brush. Why waste a third of the money you've paid for it? Also cut an empty cleanser tube down this week & there was at least another week's product in there.
*Have weighed all my ebay items & priced them up for postage on the Post Office pricefinder website. My next job when I've finished my bucket of coffee is to list them, to make use of the 100 free listings we were sent.
*Not much free fitness today, but I shall make sure I get up regularly from the laptop & keep moving around. I've had a brisk walk down to the post box, & intend to have a generally busy day. I'm never going to be a gym person. I intend to resurrect my fitness DVDs, & I am always busy in our garden (130' x 30', so quite big) so just need to add in a bit more walking.
*Check for surveys, but only if I can bear to spend anymore time on the laptop after I've done all the ebay listings.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

Bit of leafleting in last ditch attempt to find a house in our preferred roads

Afternoon all
Sunny here today after all the rain yesterday
List for today:
Small shop in Lidl (done, fruit, mushrooms, peppers and salads, yogurt, butter, plus 2 packs of stewing steak for freezer as it was on half price offer :T) Done.
Picked produce that was ready in the garden (a couple of courgettes, enough French beans for dinner, a big pile of rhubarb and a stray strawberry, which I ate!) Done
Race around with hoover (done upstairs, also spot cleaned landing carpet where OH had trailed up there with muddy shoes yesterday ). Still downstairs to do
Make a quiche to use up some eggs
Make a loaf in the BM (though not as interesting a one as Ally's)
Cook some rhubarb while the oven is on for the quiche
Do a load of washing
See if any of the large garden pots need watering, despite all the rain yesterday
Make a fish bake for dinner tonight (gratin topping less fattening than fish pie)
Stick to diet (not done bad so far)
Any surveys that are available
Hope everyone is having a good day0 -
