Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Morning Hannah and all who follow

We don't have rain in London currently. It's quite cold though which makes me think ahead to September. That seems to be the way this summer has gone though always ahead in terms of what you'd expect the weather to be.

I'm off to work again at 10am. Feeling tired today but more from a very disturbed night than anything else. Was up and down constantly it felt.

OH is taking son to a playdate at 11 and I finish at 3 so we will have a bit of time later today to chill together.

Still feeling conflicted about the best thing to do with the insurance money. My first feeling was to throw it at the business as it comes from the business. But personal debt against our name feels more pressing somehow. I suppose having had so many lean months where I feel all I can do is live one day at a time it is giving me feelings of panic and stress to have to make a big decision. Sorry for rambling. I can see it will be in my account tommorow so will consider more then.
I'm always the sort to think of going the hardest but fastest route in life with no thought for comfort or niceness. I think OH might wish we could have a bit more in the here and now, well he's said as much. But I feel like if we don't maintain full tilt progress we will never get out from under. Interesting how personality comes into debt management isn't it.

    Right ramble over :)

    Have a good day all.

Morning guys  hurrah to Sunday :D Nice to do things as a family.

Bob exciting times for you! I hear you are feeling conflicted, but trust in yourself you will make the right decision - you're a wise lass! And hopefully there can be a little slack for you guys for a while - you are so good at being frugal but sometimes it's nice to have a little break

When I was with my bff yesterday we were talking about my financial situation and I realised that I am really good at being poor now! I have trimmed our budget down to the bones and am spending next to nothing personally to conserve what the last salary I received. I look back on when I was so poor when my kids were growing up and I wish I had these skills then, things might have worked out differently. But of course I had completely different drivers then. Right now I use dgd's CB to pay for her items - clothes and other things needed & activities which covers her expenses. Anyway ramblings....

    Small things for today:

    * [STRIKE]all meals from stores[/STRIKE]
    * cook & freeze sausages not used at the bbq yesterday froze 1 1/2, 1 left in fridge for dgd's packed lunch on Tuesday. The rest were used for sausage sandwiches at lunch
    * [STRIKE]dinner is lo chicken & couscous[/STRIKE] couscous was delish, used 1/2 an onion, HG mint & basil, 2 tables spoons of lemon juice and a hand full of cherry tomatoes that were heading past their best :T
*[STRIKE] make pastries & a cake for dgd's packed lunches during the week. Will make lemon drizzle[/STRIKE] out of 1 pack of ys puff pastry I made 3 cheese, onion and potato pasties, 12 cinnamon sugar puffs & 12 marmite and cheese puffs
    * start & finish job application that needs to be in by 9am tomorrow decided in the end not to go for this position. Have been in 2 minds all day as it is an interesting role which I wouldn't mind doing but it is at least an hour's travel each way so decided it wasn't for me...
    * [STRIKE]do some research for interview tomorrow[/STRIKE]
    * try on interview outfit and do any touch ups - think the hem on my dress needs repairing
    * go for a run
    * Might iron & take some photos of things to list on ebay
    * hopefully go for a walk in the woods if it doesn't rain
    * NSD

    Morning DFW-Weekend-Warriors,

Wow! I slept so well last night after yesterday's attempt at wearing out my training shoes and my OH is still asleep. This is such good news as recently both of us have been light sleepers.

I need to do somethings I didn't finish yesterday because we decided to head for the hills but I'm not going to feel guilty about that. Free leisure time is very important.

My plan to stay really busy again with DFW-style things.

    Nillionaire Month Two:

    :grinheart Do Royal Mail Surveys.

:grinheart Continue de-cluttering and cleaning the kitchen. There is treasure to be found in there!

:grinheart List OH's derelict desktop PC on eBay.

    :grinheart Do iSay surveys.

:grinheart Baking that bread! There was no time yesterday so I made Cheat's 10 Minute Lasagne instead. The mince, veg and tomato sauce is cooked in a frying pan using just a little oil and the lasagne sheets are boiled in a separate pan in water and a little oil. After ten minutes the meat and pasta is plated up in layers and cheese is grated on top. You need to keep 'poking' the lasagne sheets for the first few minutes or they stick together.

    :grinheart Check Quidco.

:grinheart Finish brain-busting financial plan for August.

:grinheart Re-watch a film we rented from Amazon Video Shop and film we recorded from the tv overnight.

:grinheart Made a plan to go to a different ParkRun venue next Saturday as a 'tourist'. Looking forward to trying a different route. Then we will go for a hike in that area afterwards.

:grinheart Wash and re-use carrier bags as small bin liners.

:grinheart Do the free Big Butterfly Count (Link) in the garden today if the rain stays off long enough. Did this while out hiking yesterday. Folks with children I'd recommend this. You can download an identification chart and a certificate and your counting helps monitor British butterflies. (Available in England, NI, Wales and Scotland.) 15 minutes well spent.

:grinheart Emailed Co-op to ask about Dividend voucher options.

:grinheart Applied for new 0% dire-emergency-credit-card as existing
dire-emergency-credit-card has now leapt up to 17.9% for purchases. Will get a free £5 voucher if successful.

:grinheart Emailed Homebase. Bought a strimmer last April. Used it a dozen times. Has now fallen apart. I know it was only £13.99 but that's not good enough. I will win this battle!

:grinheart Made a free exercise schedule for the coming week.

:grinheart Made stuffing for OH's roast dinner from cheapo packet mix from the back of the cupboard, but added chopped onion and garlic.

:grinheart De-cluttered all kitchen drawers. Found ice lolly molds. Made three flavours: cherry yoghurt, blackcurrant squash and morello cherry and lemon
squash and morello cherry. Ascertained that we have enough kitchen nik-naks, freezer bags and tea towels to last a very long time.

    More later...

Good luck with your Devotions, Divas.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Happy Sunday Everyone,

Well I'm feeling extremely sleepy today! Due to leave for work in a half a hour and still in my pjs :-) Wont be looking so glamorous today (maybe take my makeup bag in work to do later)

Just over £10 in tips last night. Will pop that in my sealed jar when I go to get dressed. Not put any in for a about a week but back to it now. Sunday tends to be a non tip day as I only do to 3pm and none of the regular tippers are in.

Need to figure what to do with wages this week re: dd2 birthday presents, new trainers, uniform and nephew moving in present etc Just the order of things to tackle it all really

Need to do a online shop later as need all big items etc and at £1 delivery, a lot cheaper than taxi home and less stress dragging the little ones around town.

Hopefully a little more decluttering later and the days load of Ironing (Don't want a giant pile like I tackled yesterday again!!)

    Have a fun day everyone

    Hello :hello:

Raining again today, and chilly :(
Still, it is good for the garden, I tell myself, but probably the garden, like the rest of us, would rather it were sunny and warm now it has had a good water!

DD2 rang and invited us to a BBQ yesterday, so some jobs didn't get done - and we didn't eat the food that I had planned. So, need to do it today:

Hope you have managed to set your mind at rest as to what to do with your insurance payout Bob. If it were me, I would probably pay some off the debt, put some into the business and save some for treats for the family, but then I have always been one to sit on the fence :rotfl:

    So far:

Quick tidy and emptied bins - I re-use carrier bags for the small bins in the bathrooms too Ally, though I don't bother to wash them first :o

Cooked a big pot of rhubarb from the garden, which will do for my breakfast yogurt for the week :)

Froze a batch of French beans

Baked a quiche shell. I will fill it with leftovers from the fridge and some of my egg mountain, and it will be nice for lunches for a few days (it is a big one) :)

Done a Yougov survey, though only a prize draw (which I never win) one rather than a paid one

Used up various bits and pieces for lunch :)

    Not spent anything :T

    Still to do:
Peg out wet washing if it has stopped raining - it is windy enough to dry it, if it is not actually raining any more It didn't stop raining, so the washing is still in the basket. If I can't peg it out in the morning, it will have to go on the airer :(
Finish off quiche, making sure I use up odd bits from the fridge Done, used half a chopped onion from the freezer, a slice of OOD ham, half a bendy pepper (chopped and froze the other half) a courgette and some grated cheese - and 5 large eggs from the mountain :D It smells lovely, despite the sometimes un-tempting sounding ingredients!
Make a fish gratin for dinner Done, used some stale bread to make breadcrumbs for the top, and froze those that were left over :A
Investigate what is needed to renew my driving licence (forms arrived yesterday) I can do it online and that will save the hassle of having new photos done (they use the one from my passport) :T
Check date of dentist appointment 11 August. I have written it on the calendar
Check banks (not done this for a couple of days) Done, transferred money for grandson's 18th birthday so that he can buy things he needs for when he goes away to college in September :)
Investigate sales stock in the loft, to see what is in there. I will do the stuff in the garage when it is warmer! Done, picked out a few items to take down tomorrow

Right, I am going to put on a coat to go outside, it is that cold  Still cold and rainy :(

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the day :)

    Hello Frugal Friends,
Well, I haven't done much money-saving today, but as I've kept the faith, I thought I'd still post to be sociable.
Today's small list of frugal things:
*Drank the leftover coffee which wouldn't fit in mr f's work flask. It was to avoid waste, but any excuse to sit down & have extra coffee.......
*Free fitness as have spent an energetic hour and a half clearing part of one of my big flower borders & bagging up a massive pile of non-compostable branches, weeds & seedheads.
*More free fitness as resurrected one of my exercise DVDs. My fitness levels have noticeably decreased. Only myself to blame. Will aim to get back to moving more & reinstate walks at the weekend.
*Watered greenhouse veggies. The all-afternoon rain will take care of the rest.
*Moved more pots of flowers around to fill empty spaces in the garden. The old, pre-LBM me would have skipped off to the garden centre & come back with £40's worth of plants, as well as stopped for coffee & cake while there :-O
*Cut more lettuce for a big salad to go with tonight's meal - they are bolting now, but most of the leaves are still perfectly good to eat. The lettuce seeds I sowed the other day are coming up.
*Noticed that removing 2 humungous molluscs from my cabbage polytunnel the other week had not really halted the nibbling. Investigations revealed that they had clearly been getting down to a bit of baby-making while they were in there as there were lots of teeny tiny baby ones. Decided to cut my losses, harvested them, washed, shredded, blanched & froze 3 bagfuls. Free food as they were grown from a few leftover out of date seeds which were free anyway.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks (Still to do)
*Do rubber chicken magic with the Indian roast chicken I cooked yesterday. It's already done last night's meal with garlic rice & some sandwiches. I'd expect it to do tonight's spicy chicken salad, at least another packed lunch & some pilaff or similar for tomorrow's meal. (Still to so)
*Check weather forecast to see if it's worth putting a cheap overnight wash on. If it's going to be rainy, I shan't bother & will wait for a better day.
*Fill tiny plastic boxes with value dried fruit for work snacks - much cheaper than those little ready-filled cardboard boxes you can buy (still to do)
*Use-it-up campaign - Mascara tube put in a mug of boiling water for a few minutes first thing so as to start getting the last out of it. Quite a lot in there, it just dries out. Also been using up odds & sods of perfume, especially the tiny sample bottles & the last of a bigger bottle which had been hanging around a long time.
*Two of my ebay items which I only listed yesterday had sold by bedtime, & have both been bid up today. 15 watchers on one of them, so will hopefully go up a bit more. Hope so, as that is cashola destined for the new car fund.
So nothing very innovative from me, but I haven't been out spending & back in the Bad Old Days, Sundays used to be one of my worst days for that, as I'd be going to flea/antique/vintage fairs in the mornings, then get lunch somewhere, then off to the garden centre with my plastic card in my hot little hand! My name's Foxgloves & I used to be a bad spendy girl..........
Enjoy the rest of the week all.

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver! Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi All

A quiet weekend here. Yesterday picked blackcurrants from 6 and then made jam. Pretty labels and stored in cellar.

Then slept for the rest of the afternoon before an early night!

This morning, laid in, watched Monty and Beechgrove before setting foot out from the duvet. Then in the rain back to blackcurrants, another 4 lb in freezer and 2 pies made. Just eaten one with DS and DH with a shocking amount of custard.

There will be enough cooked pork left for tomorrow tea and pie aswell so tomorrow should be free lo food monday.

So have spent nothing, not really done much. Although I did the farm VAT on friday, so I have done something, just not enough!

Love reading all your posts. The only way I can not spend, is to not go anywhere. I lose all will power as soon as I set foot off the place.

Should be no more food shopping in July and have come in way below target. Really chuffed with that. Hoping august I can do as well. I really fancy rewarding myself with some tulip bulbs, or maybe daffodils for next spring.

Need to fantasy shop in my bulb catalogues.

Keep up the mse stuff and inspiring me.

    Maria
