Thanks Bob and ABA she is doing really well actually. It was experimental surgery so we knew it only had a small chance of working but since it was reversed on Monday she seems much better!

I'm off to bed now as I have so much left to do tomorrow as I can't keep my eyes open now!

Well OHs birthday party was last night and was a huge success! We went with a beer festival theme and had an ale tasting table (most people brought a bottle of ale with them and we tasted 17 and still had over 20 left over!), a beer quiz (thanks to google and word, along with some beer clip art I made some answer sheets and it went down really well!) We had a friends gazebo and it decorated with Oktoberfest bunting. Had hotdogs and bread pretzels along with LOADS of other foods. There were a few sore heads this morning, OHs in particular, along with one guy who partook a little too excitably in the tasting and ended up falling over when he got home and had to have his head glued at A&E!
I loved it! I absolutely love hosting, even if it does cost :o

OHs birthday fortnight is now at an end, much to his upset :rotfl:

Our first month of joint finances is going well so far, everything is going as it should which is excellent. I knew my spreadsheet was right but I did have some slight concerns about OHs random spends ;)

Hi Kirstypoos, I didn't realise you had a diary, just stumbled across it and thought I'd return the 'hello's'. :)

So sorry to hear your Mum isn't in the best of health too, I hope things are looking up for her now after her procedure. It's such a worry isn't it.

OHs party sounded like great fun! Love the theme and the making of bits for it! I loved to host too and when DS's Dad and I were still together, pre DS, we hosted some brilliant themed parties and BBQs at our house. Still have fab memories of them!

Good luck with the budget, sounds like you have everything under control.

Thanks MeandO :) whilst I am happy that she has been put forward for this trial, it does worry me that she's gone through these surgeries with no benefit :(

She's much better now this implant has been removed and I'm relieved that there are no more surgeries planned for a while so I'll relax. She's a love though - I was a bit upset last week so she bought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to cheer me up, and she made a wonderful cake for OH - a V8 supercar helmet, he doesn't want to eat it :rotfl:

You can't beat a good theme! My friends parents always have a theme and we divide into teams which are picked out of a hat and have fun challenges - it's lovely to get to know people that we wouldn't normally speak to at these parties because no one gets to stay in friendship groups.
I need ideas for the next gathering so feel free to share yours :)

So pleased to hear from you Bob - hope you are doing ok.

I did feel for him, until he reminded me that halfway through the quiz he went to the local off licence and bought 8 pint cans of strongbow which he proceeded to drink in under 2 hours  I think I'd still be passed out now if I drank that much!

I know, I couldn't believe it! I don't know how people can put that much away....although I did have a fair few glasses of prosecco so not really one to talk :o

Joint account still looking healthy - in fact we filled the car yesterday (2 days later than planned on budgeting spreadsheet, win! and £10 less to fill than budgeted, double win!) However OH hasn't been going to Kung Fu which is what kills our fuel and he is starting back tonight so this will be the end of the under budget petrol spends :( I would like to get to the point where we could transfer this under budget spend straight off the mortgage or CC but at the moment because of OHs 4 weekly pay there are times over the next few months that we are skin of the teeth close to overdraft territory  (which we don't even have as I refuse after the mess the last one caused!)

As of January our account predictions look much healthier as we will have got 'ahead' of OHs strange pay dates and the buffer in the account will start to build (along with £300 a month into savings, very pleased by this!)

Just NZ trip in the meantime to contend with. Savings account for this is looking very healthy and we haven't dipped into it at all - not that we should be, but the old me would have treated someone with the plan to put it back and then not been able to in time. This is very good progress :)

Spendy CC has a little more on than I would like after the Bulgaria trip and the party but I have the money in savings...I'm just being a pain because I like seeing the savings high and the CC is 0% so makes sense to just pay it off monthly. Problem is I am petrified that I will spiral. I went over the party budget when I had a last minute panic that we didn't have enough food, and I did the old me trick of thinking I'll just use the CC and pay it off next month. Dangerous territory!!
